Are you trying to be deliberately obtuse or are you just a bit slow?
Do you know what an overdraft is and what it is used for? I'll assume you don't so let me explain. An overdraft is a temporary loan on an a account that in this case would be paid back after we have sold our players, do you get it know? Did you notice how this summer we actually sold some players after we had bought, didn't you wonder at the time how we managed to do that?

If you are telling me that we don't have any other midfielders in the academy with more potential or ability than Lucas then it is seriously depressing.

have you heard of the words credit crunch and the fact we owe millions and you now want an overdraft on top of everything else ? Banks arent just going to give us an overdraft just like you say lets be realistic now shall we . And how many of these youngsters are playing for one of the best international teams in the world ? Did you watch lucas in his last game ? The guy is improving .

I don't think we will make any drastic changes since we're low on funds as it is but it would be nice to see another RB or LB come in. I doubt we'll get a LB though since we have 2 but we need an alternative for Arbeloa he's played every game I think?

As for the person that said Man U can spend big on just one player, so can we. We spent what 7m on Dossena 8m on Riera and 20m on Keane? Somewhere around there it adds up to 35m, 5 more than what was spent on Berbatov. Although I think we were better off buying 3 instead of 1 since our squad isn't as strong as Man U's we should go for high quality more often instead of usually going for quantity.

I am losing a little patience with Lucas but he's very much a bit part 1st XI player so we shouldn't really judge until he's played a run of games. I think Pennant and Benayoun should be sold in January. We'd get decent ££ for the 2 of them thus allowing us to purchase another striker.

Exactly. Who can we sell without having to cover them? Those we would want to sell wouldn't fetch much.

Devil's advocate. The mancs are using Carrick/Hargreaves much less, we were doing well enough without Mascherano. Maybe we should consider selling him in January, if we could get more than what we paid for him that could fund a signing or two to fix our lack of goals - just 26 for in 18 games

With Mascherano : P8 W4 D3 L1 F11 A8
Without Mascherano : P10 W8 D2 L0 F15 A5

So before people throw toys out of pram saying "you can't sell Mascherano", consider what our problem is (not scoring enough), what we need (goals), what Mascherano offers (defensive cover, half-decent passing) and weigh up what we might get for him and what we could do with it. The above stats show he isn't pivotal, we won 80% of our games without him and only 50% with him. Ironically we've conceded a goal per game he's played while conceding only one every other game without him. I'm not saying it is an ideal solution, but the mancs are going cold on the idea of a holding midfielder and since they could manage to score with or without one then maybe that role is largely redundant. I'd certainly not bother with him in home games, we have enough trouble creating and scoring as it is. So half our games - and more given quality of some opponents - he may be more of a luxury than of benefit. If we're looking to win a game then we shouldn't need a DM.

I'm off now, wondering if that will receive mixed response or sheeplike slatings come abuse from everyone. I've spent a bit of time typing that and thinking about it, I wonder if some people on here will wait even a second beyond their instinctive and automatic reaction

Aurelio was very very poor last night. I like him and think hes had some decent performaces but yesterday he was woefull. His first touch was way off and he gave the ball away umpteen times...

so... our best full back is probably Arbeloa and then any of our three centre backs!

agger left back ? ! Why ? He showed last night what we missed when he was injured , the ability to bring the ball out thru the middle from the back . Why would we play our best ball playing and most skillful cb at left back ? Because he kicks with his left foot ? !

there is alot of mediocre players in our squad, that need to get shot of pennant (hated him straight from the start), benayoun (too hit and miss for liverpool), voronin( i thought he would be good, how wrong i was), lucas (i actually liked him but not anymore), kuyt i wouldn't bother with the rest of the squad we have a pretty strong team
i would then go out and sign a few bosmans :P...... schweinsteger for one :P rofl
but really i dont think we shud be talking about this, this early but i would sell that lot and try and find a decent rightwinger, it seemed yesterday to me against athletico that we had trouble because they were expecting us to go down the wing, considering that riera is our only out and out winger we couldn't spread it, kuyt im sorry needs to go hes doing a role that he wasn't designed for and i dont think he will improve on right winger ever.........he might of been good in striker position, but i am a firm believer that babel, torres, keane and/or nemeth, dani pacheco....who should be utilised more for first team striker he needs to be given the chance, also i would like to see nemeth make the cut aswell, i know theyre young and may not turn out to be good, but nemeth seems brilliant and also if dani pacheco is being used as a striker by spain then he shud be good enough for our team, because i hate to say it but if you could get us against spain they would destroy us.....and thats a IF!!!
we should get 20mil for that lot and i think that we should be able to find a winger for that price i dare say!!
