Would rather i hate to say it lose this game than be without either of these two until Christmas.

F@ck that.. I would rather take a win and let gerrard and torres get injured again.. a win over the mancs is the title for me...loool your probably right though it is a risk playing these two. we shall see what happens.. not long to go... if liverpool win i will treat you guys some munchies...or will just have a gangbang lol jkn

If Gerrard and Torres are fit to start, I'd be inclined to select:

                                 Reina

Arbeloa        Carragher           Skrtel              Dossena

Gerrard        Mascherano          Alonso          Rieira

                       Keane               Torres

As solid a lineup as we can muster. I fancy Skrtel over Agger. I think it's too big a game to bring in Agger, who didn't look right in pre-season or against Liege. Hyypia I fear would come unstuck against the mobility/agility of Tevez & Rooney. Skrtel has been fairly good in the past three games, and has good pace which may be needed to recover should we get caught out by a through ball. Dossena to start, he looked OK against Villa and will need to show character in this one - a positive performance by him could precipitate a run of sustained good form. Alonso and Mascherano in the centre to help us control the midfield and protect us from the obvious threats they have. Gerrard on the right and Riera on the left to give us the best possible overall balance in midfield.

I reckon the Manc's will line up as:

                             Van der Sar

Brown          Ferdinand            Vidic               Evra

                   Anderson        Hargreaves

                                Scholes

  Tevez                                                      Rooney/Giggs
                                 Berbatov

Nothing to be overly concerned about.

Some depressing facts to get us all in the mood :(

There have only been four goals scored in the last five meetings between United and Liverpool at Anfield.

Liverpool have failed to score in their last seven Premier League games Manchester United, the joint-worst run of any fixture in Premier League history.

All of Liverpool's goals in all competitions this season have been netted in the final 10 minutes of matches.

United have won 10 and lost only one of the last 12 league meetings with Liverpool.

Rio Ferdinand has scored three Premier League goals against Liverpool, he has not scored more than one against any other top-flight side.

Liverpool have lost only one of their last 18 Premier League games - that was the 3-0 loss to Man Utd in March.

United have won nine times at Anfield in the Premier League area - no other team has won more than three times on Liverpool's home patch.

Liverpool are looking for their 50th league win over Manchester United.

Robbie Keane has made more Premier League  starts (14) against Man Utd than any other club but he has never scored against them.

Rafa Benitez answers

Journalist: Some comments were made by Alex Ferguson about Robbie Keane and the price you paid for him - were they ill-timed?
I think he was surprised about the price because he was cheap. They paid around £30m for Berbatov, Rooney or Ferdinand - or even £35m for Tevez. That is maybe where the surprise came from.

You tell him Rafa :D

I watched that interview. I felt a bit sorry for Rafa when he was asked if he was jealous of the amount of £ Utd are able to spend. To be honest Rafa should have just ignored his comments instead of getting involved in mind games. They won the league and CL last season ffs. I think that justifys any spending. Until we do something similar Rafa should shut the :censored: up and concentrate on getting his players to play properly.

I dream of a Keane winner today....making a 2:0 win.

53 mins - top right corner at the Kop end from just inside the box - central. Van der Sar no chance.

(just writing it down looks f*cking awesome!)  Come on you Reds!!  :buttrock ....You have to have hope if nothing else

ok im really getting sick of this whole benitez cant comptete financially BS...

lets just try to set the records straight so...

i bet theres a million other threads out there that have this information but since we'r already discussing it here we might as well have it here..

BENITEZ HAS SPENT MILLIONS AND MILLIONS ON :censored: PLAYERS WHO HAVENT IMPROVED US ENOUGH SINCE TAKING OVER SO STOP BLAMING EVERYONE ELSE EXCEPT FOR HIM ...

ok some numbers to back this up and if you disagree with anyting just let me know cause im pretty sure some of those numbers are wrong..

im sure Chelsea have spent more than we have but ManUtd im not so sure.. Arsenal no fcking way..

so lets just compare liverpool and Manutd for now..

Liverpool

2004

Josemi - 2
Garcia - 6
Alonso - 10.5
Nunez - 0

Total -18.5 mill

2005

Crouch - 7
Sissoko - 6
Gonzales - 4.5
Barraghan - unknown
Reina - 6
Zenden - 0
Carson - 0.75
Morientes - 6.3
Pellegrino - 0

total - 30.5

2006

Aurelio - 0
Pennant - 7
Kuyt - 9
Paletta - 2
Bellamy - 6
Agger - 6
Fowler - 0
Kromkamp - 0
ElZhar - 0

Total - 30

2007

Mascherano - 18
Arbeloa - 2.6
Lucas - (6-8)
Voronin - 0
Leto - 2
Torres - 26
Benayoun - 5
Babel - 11.5
Skrtel - 6.5

Total - 79.6

2008

Dossena - 7
Keane - 20.3
N'gog - 1.5
Degen - 0
Cavalieri - 3.5
Saric - 0.65
Rieira - 8

Total - 41

TOTAL SPENDING UNDER BENITEZ -   199.6 Million

MANUTD   - cant be bothered typing every single value of transfer so ill just put the total -

2004

Rooney
Ngalula
Miller
Heinze
Alan Smith
Fangzhuo

Total - 39

2005

J.P.Sung
Foster
Van Der Sar

Total - 7.5

2006

Carrick
Kuszczack
Evra
Vidic

Total - 30

2007

Hargreaves
Anderson
Nani
Tevez* still on loan with a 2 year loan deal for 10mill used - further 20mill expected

Total - 56

2008

Berbatov - 30+

TOTAL MAN UTD SPENDING SINCE 2004 - 162.5

ok now i know many are going to say that benitez sold half the squad to buyand that outr net spending is thus nowhere near that of Manutd... i decided to look that up and here we go...

LIVERPOOL

TOTAL OF TRANSFERS OUT - 70mill

MANUTD

TOTAL OF TRANSFERS OUT - 73.45

so basically

TOTAL NET SPENDING SINCE 2004

LIVERPOOL - 129.6 million

MANUTD    -  89.05 million

good facts mate.. i always say anyway rafa is a tw@t.. He has spent alot like you have just shown us and still complains about funds.. Only riena was the best signing in 2005..From each of the year you could only pick a few that are worth mentioning. Lets just face facts rafa will never be the manager fergie is. Fergies mentality is brilliant, just look at the team unity mancs have. Even without ronaldo they still play as a good team. Rafa is shyte!
