Im going back to sleep let see what happens in the second half.

  FFS, this post and the following replies has had me in stitches for several minutes now, and I'm sitting at work so it's kinda embarrassing really (as is the initial post itself of course) .

BTW, let us know how the second half worked out, just leave out the details about whatever man-on-man-action there may have occurred :D .

What I will say is that it won't be a classic as it's too early in the season. If you remember back, we played United at home fourth game of the season back in 2005/2006 and it was a dire 0-0. The only thing memorable about that game was Luis Garcia ending Roy Keane's United career.

The big worry is if we don't score first as we generally struggle to break them down. It definitely a game for an unlikely hero though. The really big players rarely show up in this fixture.

yep, there's a very good chance that ronaldo, torres and gerrard won't show up at all.

Paul Eaton 12 September 2008

Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard have both been passed fit to face Manchester United at Anfield this weekend.
Both players completed a light training session at Melwood this morning and have been included in the squad to take on Alex Ferguson's men tomorrow.

More to follow.

Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres handed Liverpool a massive boost ahead of the Saturday's home game against Manchester United.

The key duo came through a training session on Friday in a bid to prove their fitness for  the Premier League showdown.

Club captain Gerrard (pictured left) recently underwent groin surgery, while striker Torres (right) has been hampered by a hamstring strain.( Just for the Liverpool fans who dont recognise them  :D )

very interesting options for Rafa. This season we have not seen a team with both Masherano and Gerrard together. And we have never seen a team with Mascherano, Gerrard, Keane and Torres (and Alonso) before.  I would imagine that pretty soon we are going to see what Rafa's real plan for the season is in terms of a regular lineup (if that is his plan at all).  United might not be the ideal match to unviel it if your into grand openings, especially with the possibility of Reira being integrel to that plan and if he plays it would be his debut for the club.

I was speaking more in terms of the dynamic of having them all fit together. last season the answer to how do  you get gerrard, mascherano, and Alonso on the pitch at the same time was to play Gerrard behind Torres.  Now that we also have Keane, is that still our best option. A lot of people will cry out, 20 mill for a striker to play him on the wing!!!!!     and then others will cry why break up a partnership that was lethal down the stretch last season and is proven to work in the league.  That is why I say now that everybody is available (sort of) it will be interesting to see what Rafa's plans are for the team.
