LIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER UNITED - 12:45 GMT, 13-09-08

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

If I was Rafa I would pick some of the youngsters and say go and make a name for yourself, this game needs to be played with passion and to hell if we loose by a few goals, the only way to play Manure is to attack, and if we are missing both Torres and Stevie G then we kind of have an excuse for loosing anyway as we'll be underdogs so might as well go for it. Anyone agree or are you all thinking thank God Heimdall's not the manager  :D

It was a close-run thing but I've gone with Option B. :D

i would rather get a point than get stuffed by the mancs at anfield by a couple of goals. Definatly not the game to blood youngsters in . keep the game nice and tight , control the ball and look to grab a goal . dont care if we win ugly .

:D Yeah fair enough giving the youngsters a bash Heimdall but not against these. It was men against boys when we played them last season so feck knows what it'd be if we put the kids in.

I'd keep that idea under your hat anyway, soon as we lose a game it's only a matter of time before someone goes for the "stick the youngsters in!!" angle. It's a bit like rotation and Christmas, you know it's just around the corner.

just looking at their team, does anyone think berbatov, rooney and tevez will all start?

personally i can't see berbatov starting due to lack of fitness.

I cant see how they can all fit into a team, Berbatov, Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo that is.

Unless they're going to play that 4-2-3-1 thing that everyone keeps telling me we played last season. It wouldn't work if they played it the same way we did (cos we didn't, we played 4-5-1 or at a push 4-4-1-1) but it might work with Berbatov up top, with Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo playing with a bit of fluidity in behind. Course they've got full backs who do actualy give them width (particularly Evra), and they could have say Scholes and anderson in behind the three, with Carrick and Hargreaves as back up.

I reckon though that more likely one of the stars will miss out in most games. If they're all fit, they might even rotate Fergie style.

Me neither, but without Ronaldo they'll probably play Rooney and Tevez a bit behind Berbatov, and then have three central midfielders further behind them (e.g. Scholes, Hargreaves and Anderson or whoever is fit/chosen). That would be my guess for the attacking part of their team come saturday anyway. Not much width to that team, but they're probably not expecting that from us either. Would be nice if Rieira could exploit this (that is, if I am right of course  :D ).

yeah, big ego's and all that......keeping berbatov, tevez, rooney AND ronaldo all happy and playing football, don't see that happening...

back to the match tho, maybe a late run out from one of our fresh youngsters could be the right thing if the games is getting too tight. starting off with them in the starting line up wouldn't work i reckon....i'd rather wait for the game to settle which always takes a while when we're playing a big team.

I cant see how they will play with all of them . they may stick rooney wide left and have berbatov and tevez up front with ronaldo wide right .

i think they'll play giggs or nani, anderson, scholes and fletcher in midfield. carrick and hargreaves are both injured.

Brilliant....
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On
