Gutted that Luis is leaving, but from what I've read it's Luis' who is homesick and wants to head back to Spain. I'm sure he's said that he'd love to go back to play for Atletico one day, and in that case it makes sense to use him in a deal fo Atletico's most important player.

I'm sure of Luis wanted to stay he would. Saying that we're losing a key player IMO, he is a match winner and for all the frustration he causes he's a fantastic player to have in the sqaud as he's one of the only genuine match winners we have. He always provides a goal threat and can create something out of nothing even if he has a poor game.

I think Rafa may take some stick for the fact that Luis is leaving tbh, but I'm not sure that Rafa can really be blamed if Luis wanted out. When his contract wasn't renewed (I believe it was supposed to be at the same time as Alonso's) it signalled that something could be up.

He's 23, Henry is 29.

Henry doesnt adapt to Spain, he's worth zero.

Torres doesnt adapt to England, he's still worth 15m+ due to his age

If David Villa was available, i could understand the complaints. Facts are he is not.

So who would you spend 25m on if not Torres?

If Henry doesn't adapt to Spain, there will be clubs in England who would still probably shell out 8 Million for him or more. Not exactly zero..

If Torres fails we would probably have to take a 10-15 pound lose on him if we bought him for 25..

There's alot we could do with 25 million..

Owen - 9
Simao - 11

Hell, we could probably by a better goalscorer than Torres for that extra 5 million. Humberto Suazo. I don't know why this guy isn't in Europe..

Be gutted to see Luis go he's one of my favourite players that we have, but if Tevez comes it will soften the blow, however Benayoun wont.
Get him signed Rafa you know it makes sense.

i hate luis garcia.....but then i love the lil b@stard aswell....it would be a shame to see him go.

Torres is not someone im too excited about, seen a couple of athletico matches this season and have watched him for Spain, no doubt he is good but im hesitant to say whether he will set the premiership alight simply because of our track record so far since Owen left with strikers....especially with the amount of money we are touted to be spending on him. hope all the eggs aren't goin in one basket..

but enough of that miserable cr.ap, im sure he will fit into our team well will be that striker we have been waiting for. thats right a U-turn.

Benayoun is a very good player and will be an asset to our team!

He will be well as he has proven and consitantly too

What do you not like about him or is it just that he never came from a foreign country so its not such a novelty??

He will do great at LFC hes a flair player and he has proven he can cut in the prem...we should all be happy!

Cadena SER (spanish radio) have confirmed the deal advanced a few hours ago. Fernando Torres has authorised his agent to complete the deal and there is a 99% chance of Torres joining Liverpool. If all the parties keep their word Fernando Torres will sign the contract 5th July once he is back from holiday.

30 million euros + Luis Garcia is the price.

Looks like this is defo gonna happen as Athletico Madrid have made a 30 million bid for Forlan and Riquelme from Villareal 20 for Forlan and 10 for Riquelme. Villareal are asking that they throw in columbian defender Perea as part of the Riquelme deal. So looks like the money there getting from us is already spent

Going off topic slightly, I just wonder whether our Mascha will have a slight word in the the ear of Tevez while away on international duty. Its food for thought certainly as Tevez turned down Inter.  :suspect:

Yeah hopefully Tevez will join his countrymen at Anfield, then Lionel Messi may think Liverpool is the place to be  :p . Talking of Argentinians now that Saviola is on a free contract, is he worth bringing to Merseyside?
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.
