Who exactly will be turning up tomorrow?

Is the full squad back or just a make shift one?

Only some of the squad comes back.  I think anyone who had international qualifiers a month ago gets some extra rest and obviously Mascherano (Copa America), Lucas (U-20 World Cup) and Kewell (Asian Cup) won't be back for some time.

Nicked from RAWK...

Presenter:

-It seems, like this year at last he will end up out of Atletico de Madrid and in the Premier.

Antonio Ruiz, what is Atletico's take on Torres's exit, good afternoon....

Antonio Ruiz -good afternoon, well as of right now Cadena Ser has learned that after weeks of ongoing negotiations Atletico de Madrid
and Liverpool could've reached a pre-agreement for the transfer of Fernando Torres  for €30m plus Luis Garcia, although
they're still trying to work out the details on the Garcia inclusion but it seems that is on course to happen, and of course
it still remains that Torres after his vacations in Polynesia next week will not object to this operation, with the okay of
his agents but they're still waiting on Torres to arrive in Madrid to personally negotiate all the intricate details of his contract
At this time, i insist, Liverpool who are the highest bidders with the offer of €30m plus Luis Garcia could obtain the services
of Fernando Torres...

Presenter- Juan Antonio Alacala has been working with Liverpool's people all day and Alcala what's being said over there?

Alcala- Good afternoon Gallego, from Liverpool they practically consider this transfer a done deal and even put a price on
the operation as Antonio Ruiz said.  €35m is what's been talked about in England if it was just the Fernando Torres transfer,
€30m if Luis Garcia is included.  There was a meeting back on June 21st with Rafa Benitez and the new owners where Rafa highlighted
as a priority the signing of Fernando Torres.  That day the two Americans, Hicks and Gillett, the Americans who are full of cash, made a
first offer of around €30m-€32m, because we need to make clear that Liverpool has never tried to pay the full release clause, €40m.  Sources
of Liverpool, very well informed and consulted by Cadena Ser, say that it's "very likely" that on July 5th, Thursday, next week when Liverpool
get back to work for the pre-season, the addition of Fernando Torres will be announced.  As of right now, there are contacts, that is for sure.
The player is very far, enjoying the beach and they would still need in a second phase the agreement, which wouldn't be too complicated, between
Liverpool and Fernando Torres.

I've not commented on the Torres thing because I've hardly seen the bloke play to be honest, although I do remember being quite impressed when he played for Spain a couple of times. The thing is with him, he is very highly regarded throughout Europe and relatively young so even if he "does a Morientes" I would have thought you would be looking at high teens at least as a sell-on. Given that, it doesn't look like so much of a gamble.
One last thing, does Torres mean Bull, or bully or something in Spain? I'd be a tad concerned if we were signing a bloke called Frankie Bull (I remember a bloke with a not disimilar name making the odd England appearance who was it's fair to say, somewhat limited as a player) but other than that I'm all for it. You would have thought he will play well with Crouch or Kuyt, and that Voronin fella can run around a bit so we should be sorted.

Incidently my prediction for the coming season is that Kuyt starts strongly and gets stronger. My hunch is he will leave the form of his first season way behind and score extremely regularly. If I know anything (and I know there's a distinct possibility that in fact I don't) he will become a really top player for Liverpool.

Torres, is literally Towers. (the plural of Torre)

Reina, means Queen.

I think we need a Bishop now (I tried to make a joke about chess only to remember that in english the chess towers are called rooks  :D )

Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia has hinted he would be interested in a possible swap deal with Fernando Torres.

The Reds are stepping up their interest in Atletico Madrid ace Torres as they look to bring in a high-profile signing.

Atletico have indicated that they could be prepared to do a deal for fans favourite Torres with the club lining up a bid for Diego Forlan as a possible replacement.

Torres is believed to be considering his future at Vicente Calderon after another disappointing season last term.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is a big fan of Torres and sees him as a key addition to his squad as he looks to build a side capable of challenging for the Premier League title.

Liverpool are hoping to persuade Atletico to do business by offering Garcia in part exchange.

Garcia, who missed the most of last season through injury, admits he would be interested in a move to Atletico.

"Liverpool are in my thoughts at the moment, but one day I would like to come back, and not to Barcelona, but to Atletico Madrid, who are always in my thoughts," Garcia told Spanish television.

I have read that Torres is a man of 15 goals for season. Well, but you only have to see who play with Torres. An example, Samuel Eto'o when he played in Mallorca, he was a man of 13 goals for year, now, with Ronaldinho, Messi, Deco, etc, he score 25.

Not to be greedy but how good is Aguero now and how much would he cost?

Is this just to win our debate, Saint?  :D

Incidentally, I'll hopefully get a chance to see Aguero live next week when I watch the U-20 Argies in Ottawa.  I'll ask him then if he fancies a move to Anfield! :D

No mate  :D  I saw him play a while ago and he didn't look anything special, then after we were interested in him he seemed to become "the new Maradonna" and his price rocketed, and we lost interest.

I have been banging on for years that we needed a creative attacking midfielder or second striker, and have wanted us to sign everyone from Aimar to Kaka and Tevez. At £8 million he looked within reach, at £15million he looked a gamble at £20million+ he looks too expensive.

I was brought up on Stjohn,Keegan, Dalglish and Beardsley, all different type players but they could all make goals out of nothing.

It would be sad to see Luis leave, but if this aides us closer to the title than so be it. I know this is off topic (so don’t kill me) I saw an article with the heading, “Tevez turns down Inter”. There is also an article stating Mascherano’s desire to be re-united with Tevez, do you think there is a possibility that Tevez could be heading to Anfield?

Here are the two articles:

Tevez 'turns down Inter'

Mascherano wants to be re-uinted with Tevez

I apologise in advance if you have read the articles and the moderators can delete my post if these articles have been posted elsewhere.

I have a question for members, what would you make of the signings of both Tevez and Torres? I know it’s unrealistic that we will sign both, but this rejection has made the Tevez speculation more interesting. I would love to see Tevez in a Liverpool shirt, but I am not sure if we can afford both Tevez and Torres. Then there is the fact that other areas of the team need improving too.
