Lfc v eindhoven - More than a 0-0 draw please?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Thought it was a decent performance last night and we made PSV look very average. We were always trying to play with a high tempo and played some good football.

Defensively we were very good once more when called upon, very focused and didnt waste much time in regaining posession.  Reina looked much more assured too, great pass for the first goal.

Gerrard looked much more like his old self, lots of energy, made the tackles, made the passes and was a real driving force.  Great to see him get an important goal and equal Rushies record in Europe.

Kuyt worked his socks off once more and you could tell he was a bit tired.  Looked a bit jaded at times but his work rate was great and it was good to see him get two assists.  Would have perhaps got a rest at the end if it not been for the injuries. Thought Crouch had a very good game and once again showed good quality in holding the ball up and bringing people into the play. Im glad he got on the scoresheet once more, not a bad record in CL so far.

Just a shame about the injuries.  Fortunately Garcia is back now and Riise can fill in LM no problem.  Hopefully Alonso isnt too bad, im sure he wont be with a dead leg.  Even if he is we are fortunate enough to have two home games on the trott where Zenden will surely slot in if required.

Onwards and Upwards.

Good performance, great result means that it will hopefully give us a little confidence boost. Pity about the injuries though! Looked like a dead leg to me with Alonso? Just as Speedy does anything Speedy he goes and does his hamstring (bloody ell!) Pennant not doing a great deal for us at the moment even though IMO he did try a little after Stevie told him to get his :censored: in gear!
Well done boys lets go on and Give Man City a good going over Saturday now!!!!  :)

IMO Agger (when called upon) has been the most impressive player for us this season, Very composed with nothing seeming to faze him whatsoever, and an absolute steal at 5.5 million.

I think this lad will be a sensation for LFC in years to come, we are very, very fortunate to have him, well done Rafa!!

Its not easy on the eye. No 'wow' factor. Has to get much much better.

So Gerrards equalled Rushies record for goals in the Euro cup now? - just makes u think how many He would have got if we were allowed to play in the competition between '85-'90 (we probably would have won it 8 or 9 times by now as well)

I agree Agger has been very impressive when picked and will definately get better! He seems so confident and composed on the ball you would think he was a seasoned pro.

PSV are a decent side and there record in the champions league is very good, they are also top of there league.

I thought we played ok....not fantastic but when you consider that we were already through then it was to be expected that the game might be a bit low key.
A couple of plus points are that Reina looked a lot more confident and commanding, and Gerrard i thought was fantastic, he was back to his all action best and looked alot happier.
Hopefully Alonso's injury is nothing serious.
Pennant looked to me like he was looking for an excuse to come off.

Was wondering that myself, mate...especially after hearing later that it was a minor twinge.  He seemed rather cagey in insisting on being stretchered off.  Let's hope he was just being over cautious or that this was some misguided effort to eat away at the clock.  If it was genuine lack of bottle, it's a worrying sign.

spot on ace with that comment about pennent! he really needs to start getting his act together! after a performance like his last night injured or not he can not complain if he is dropped !! lets get one thing straight, when you get your chance & get a good run of games, you would of thought he would run his :censored: off to make things happen etc & make it hard for raffa to drop him. the team played some good football last night, the kop were impressive, lots of positives to be taken from last night apart from pennent, i only hope he gets another rollocking for his own good,as imo he looks out of his depth when he should believe in himself as i still think he could become a good addition to the side.

It just occured to me that this thread is missing something...

With Oasis out of the picture round here, no one's come on and extolled the virtues of Salcido last night! :D
