Good result, lets see how the injuries pan out :/

Xabi apparently just took a knock to the hip, so hopefully he'll be right by the weekend.

Gonzales has torn a hamstring. So he might be out for a while.

'Looks' like hamstring for Pennant. Not sure how serious.

Man, wtf can we not put on performances like this in the EPL?
It's like European nights just bring our class, experience and breeding to the fore.

I won't say no to a 6th European Cup though, don't get me wrong  :D

Happy for Gerrard and Reina tonight. Especially Reina as he looked like the keeper we had for most of last season that kept the record equalling number of clean sheets.

Garcia Gerrard Zenden Riise with Warnock at left back will be our midfield this weekend I assume.

What a performance by every Liverpool player, the work rate was excellent by each and every player, Riise up and down the left Gerrard in the middle and Kuyt and Crouchy up front. Also hats of to an amazing defence, and Reina a bit more confidence, a win and a clean sheet keep it up lads, a joy to watch. :bowdown

well done Reds. (at some cost) Nice to see the Skip with a smile on his face for a change. this doesnt half release some of the pressure going to Turkey.

Lets hope Xabi Alonso shrugs off his dead leg and the two other lads arent out for too long...

Much better!  We're still a bit too ponderous in the build-up but are passing was sound and players were working hard.  PSV didn't really trouble us at the back, but it was a strong performance in defense.

Kuyt and Crouch worked hard as usual and Kuyt's assists were top drawer--particularly the lay-off for Gerrard (lovely goal).  I thought Garcia had a disciplined performance despite being a bit ring-rusty (could have done without the free kick he gave away, though).  Speaking of discipline, Gerrard played noticeably deeper after we lost Xabi but still picked his moments well in getting forward.

Tough break with the injuries but I suspect Alonso's dead leg won't be too problematic.  Not sure about Gonzo or Pennant though...hamstring injuries are a c.rap shoot.  A bit unlucky, those lads, because they were both putting in a much better shift than we saw on Saturday.

Nice to be back at home, nice to top the group, nice to keep a clean sheet and nice to score a couple of goals!  Keep it up lads.

According to Rafa Alonso and Gonzalez's injuries are serious and Pennant just had spasms... hopefully not too bad, looks like a tough match on Saturday

RAFA JOY TEMPERED BY INJURY WOE

Steve Hunter 22 November 2006

Rafael Benitez admitted his joy at seeing Liverpool beat PSV Eindhoven and top Group C was tempered by the injury problems that saw Xabi Alonso, Mark Gonzalez and Jermaine Pennant all forced to leave the field.
Out of the three players Gonzalez is the most serious with a torn hamstring.

"We are really pleased with the victory and it is good for the supporters and the club but unfortunately we have some injuries with Mark Gonzalez the more serious," commented Benitez.

"Gonzalez will be out for at least two weeks with his hamstring which is a blow for us. Xabi has a dead leg and Pennant has spasms in his hamstring so we will have to see how he is.

"When you lose two players in the first half it makes it more difficult and we had Bolo Zenden and Luis Garcia who wasn't 100 per cent fit

thats more like it!!

still got the away worries in the back of my head, but im glad to see a more confident performance by the reds.....the crossing was much better than on saturday, and although we got a bit sloppy at the end of the 1st half im happy with the general performance of the team. I hope it gives them a bit more belief.....was annoying to have those injuries though, the only thing that spoiled a good night.

come on the pool!
