Id like to see us run out winners here. i dont want another goaless draw.

Lets keep it simple, play it to feet. get a few goals and a lot of confidence.

i reckon: 2-0 (Garcia, Crouch)

If your not going to use games like this to give fringe and youth players experience then you never will:

                      Dudek

Peltier     Paletta     Hyypia     Aurelio

Pennant  Zenden    Alonso     Gonzalez

               Fowler     Crouch

Bellamy
Kuyt
Gerrard
Guthrie
Carragher
Warnock
Reina

While I agree it would be nice to give a few youth and fringe players a game, I think it may be more beneficial to the team to get a confidence boosting win instead. I would play a strong team, get a few goals up and then perhaps blood one ot two of the youngsters.

I have earmarked our next 2 home games in the league against Man City and Portsmouth as the confidence boosters.

there's going to be countless other 'Press cuttings' and other such reports to consign to the bin this week (hopefully not all ignored) but here's one that can be stuck up on the dressing room wall tomorrow morning Rafa:-  from Jan Kromkamp of all authorities:

"We know how to get at Liverpool. They have plenty of weaknesses, They often revert to kicking long ugly balls up to Peter Crouch. The manager's tactics change as soon as you frustrate his players and that is what we will be aiming to do on Wednesday.

"They have weaknesses in several places, especially in the gap between defence and midfield, and also at centre back.

"In one-on-ones, the two in the middle of defence are very good, but they cannot contribute to Liverpool's build up play. So we will focus on that. If you block them from deep they soon lose their rhythm and start playing those long balls up to Crouch."

*********************************************

got a point though hasnt he....amongst many others that need addressing. There's much work to be done, starting at Melwood tomorrow.

Kromkamp is not telling us anything we didnt already know, just showing us that everybody else in football knows it too. Our distribution from the back is poor, especially when the attackers leave our defenders and mark Alonso. Maybe Agger can shove Kromkamp's words down his throat .

thats exactly what boro did to us in the first half (couldnt watch the 2nd half has had to go out)

they harried and pressed us when we had the ball in our half  so alot of our posession was passes between our defence and to/from Reina to keep posession

what more incentive do the players want- than the one that frees them from mediocrity;  cos thats what we are domestically...lets hope to god that doesnt translate itself into our Continental form.

At one time if Liverpool had a bad result or two, teams used to be worried expecting our players to react to the poor results by going out and thrashing some team.  The only reaction from our players now seems to be a shrug.
