Come on, owen is often a lazy bugger, and is only effective with ball at feet in the penalty box.And cant take a penalty! he was moaning how he wanted champs league footy, and kept missing penaltys and sitters.

Owen One of the Top 5 strikers in the world?

Top 5 Do me a favour!...Over rated!

1. Henry                Fair comment, no disputing that one lad
2. Ronaldo              Not as prolific as a wonder with the ball
3. Raul                  Has been ****** this season, and I could score hatricks for Real
4. Van Nistlerooy    Hate to say but yes, but lots of pens to his tally
5. Vieri                  Fat Old Overwight over the hill
6. Moreintes          Has proved his point, first good season in ten seasons so not top ten
7. Del Piero           Darling of Italy, but not true goalscorer, skilfull though
8. Bergkamp          Ha ha ha, you joke right ?
9. Crespo              Oh yes you do joke obviously
10. Mutu              F*ck off idiot
11. Ballack            Hello he is a midfielder you fool

14. Some more Germans  "       "         "           Whatever
15. Some more spanish    "      "         "            Whatever

1. Henry
2. Ronaldo

Thats fair, not many will dispute that.

for me:

3. Schevchenko & Vieri (Vieiri at his best... he's not there anymore)
4. Raul
5. Owen
6. RvN

They are probably the only WORLD class strikers around.

Remember Michael Owen's goal against Argentina ?  I was watching the game in New York and can remember watching in awe as he tore through the defence, ignored the opportunity to play in Scholes and instead took the pressure on his 18 year old shoulders and shot home.

Michael Owen was our great hope and gave his all in a red shirt.  Unfortunately, I honestly feel that if we get offered something in the range of £30 million we should let him go because.....
1. Due to his knackered hamstrings he is losing pace even though only 24.
2. Van Nistlerooy and Henry score 30 goals a season for fun.  Fowler did it three years on the trot.  I don't think Owen will score 30 next season or the year after.
3. Judging by his body language last season, the guy probabaly would benefit from a fresh challenge.

£30 million is a hell of a lot of money and in this rather depressed time, Owen would really need a good goalscoring record at Euro 2004 to warrant a serious bid for that amount from a club who can really afford that payment and not offer player exchanges.

If Liverpool does get a lump sum offer of £30 million, we should take it and let the new manager find a few more players to strengthen the team. Realistically, only Gerrard can command such a transfer amount/bid, my best estimate is that Owen will only command £20 million + at best.

Offer to Chelski!! they have the cash. 30mil should be peanuts to ABr. But that depends whether Mourinho wants Owen or not. Point 2 from SEAN says it all. We need a striker doing 30+ a season. Its important!
My choices
1) Henry
2) Shevchenko (Why is he an Ukraine?!)
3) Ronaldo (He will be climbing up soon)
4) Raul (He will be going down soon)
5) Van Nistlerooy
6) Crespo (Club - Avg/ Country - Good)
7) Vieri (age's catchingup though)
8) Saviola (Little terror)
9) Trazeguet
10) Fernando Torres (Super talent)
11) Del Piero
12) Owen (He was top-10 2 years ago, not now. Am I over rating him?)
13) Kuranyi (Amazing player, player to watch)
14) Robinho (The next brazillian big thing)
15) Samuel E'too (Unsung African talent)[B]

In hustlers defence, i think this outburst of owen not being in the top ten strikers is fair comment if u have watched him for the last season and a half.He hasnt been in the top ten,but i agree with seans point 3,he would benefit from a fresh challenge and i believe even though it is sad for me to say it,he would be back among the best if he moved to another top club,he needs a change.I would certainly go all out to stop sg from going and let owen go on his way,as we have more chance of keeping sg because he is a lifelong liverpool supporter.Just because someone has an opinion different to yours STU-THE-RED doesnt mean the lad deserves a smack in the face.It wasnt that long ago you were wanting everybodys children on this forum to die of aids, just because they didnt agree with your views..So ithink its you STU-THE-RED who needs to grow up.

Lot opions here but I would dispute most of them.   Years ago no one if they are honest could have separated Owen, Henry, Raul And RVN.  Ronaldo was another class.  But things change and Owen effectiveness did too.  I wonder if losing the creative genuis of McAlister and Litmanen miht have had anything to do will Owens scoring.  After all RVN is surrounded by gifted midfielders, likewise Henry, ronaldo and Raul are as well,  Owen has only really got Gerrard creating opportunities for him.  I know he failed to score in the Iceland game but Scoles lifted Owens game to its proper level.  As for questioning his commitment to Liverpool LOL sorry cant type anymore for laughing.:D :D

a few brian cells wouldnt go amiss Stu pot!, i dont think my list was that inaccurate!
If your gonna say something, be more constructive.instead of just arguing/ name calling, you might get more friends that way, cause you need some for sure!
Ok owens in the top 10 probably! better than bergkamp, Del-piero etc, but he's not irreplaceable, which was my point.

back to the MO debate;.............
imagine you run a big company, you are not doing so well this year, you need a change of management to correct it, you consult the most respected member of staff (staff popularity poll) for approval, (said member has been on the sick half the year and underperformed for 50% of the time he worked), he tells you who to employ but if he does'nt like him he wants out!
sure you know where I'm coming from, time we cashed in and sold him. I KNOW HE CAN STILL SCORE 20+ A SEASON BUT HE AINT BIGGER THAN THE CLUB THAT NURTURED HIM!
