not only lampard but that knob essien too, how much did they waste on that ????

totally agree regarding essien, 26 million pound,he has been here for a season andi haven't seen anything to say he is worth that money, he doesn't score, doesn't have any great skill or technique, cannot make a killer pass and just runs around like a headless chicken, alonso and gerrard are vastly superior and at a level he will never reach, and yes my MOM was harry keweel, totall ran them ragged everytime he got the ball, just reminded me of his early leeds days

I hope so, he was holding that same right groin that troubled him for the last 2 years though

Kewell was brilliant yesterday. Although there were many great performances, kewell stood out above the usual suspects. He terrorised the chelsea defence and when he went off we did decline. His crosses were of high quality. As where his runs and he played one twos and linked up with riise well down the left.

10/10 performance for me.

Actually I think Essien is quality, but certainly not Alonso or Gerrard quality. To be honest, I've seen little to suggest that he's any better than Sissoko, and it's not like Momo's the finished article.

Let's remind ourselves...

Gerrard - free
Sissoko - £5.6m
Alonso - £10.7m
Essien - £24.4m

Factor in the £5m we paid for Kewell, and it's great to know we've got a world class midfield four for £3.5m less than Chelsea paid for one player.

Now who got the better deal... :D

He had a blinder, running at the defenders, tracking back defending and switching wings.  And we got it right, Geremi and Ferriera were the weak links yesterday.  I was shocked Joe Cole never started, Mourinho was outsmarted yesterday.  Del Horno is another weak link.  I'm expecting to push these shithouses all the way next year.

Mourinho outsmarted?  He didn't have to be outsmarted, he screwed himself over with his decisions yesterday.  Benitez simply played his best players in their best positions and subsequently won the game, he didn't have to do anything fancy.

Agree with you there actually John.  Leaving his wingers out and playing that diamond played right into our hands.  Essien was poor I thought.  But leaving Joe Cole out baffled me.  I know he's a cheating shitbag but he's a class player.  Always seems to do well against us as well.  He should have started.  I've got to give special praise to Kewell though.  We knew where their weakness was and we exploited it yesterday.  Kewell was the best player on the pitch for me.

I've just watched the game again this morning.  We deserved to win it all day.  I'm proud of the boys yesterday.

Damn right lad :nod

Why do people think Essien is any good? it's baffling to me.

I can' think of one thing he is brilliant at....For me his average at almost everything.

Harry was immense and deserves man of the match.

The match was won for me across the midfield, and Alsonso and Sissoko completley dominated lampard, Essien and Makelele. Gerrard ran his legs off and gave a complete captains performance.

The whole thing was class - something that Mourinio, despite having all the money in the world cannot buy.

Kewell every time. It's no coincidence we had no possession in the Sh*tski half after he went off.

Ran the show, and completely took the p*ss out of Geremi. Made the entire Sh*tski defence look pathetic, and gave us his best performance to date.

THAT is why we bought him.  :nod  :buttrock

Never been keen on Kewell, always thought he was a disgrace to the number 7 shirt worn so illustriously in the past, but............

gotta admit yesterday was by far the most impressive sight I've seen of him since he was at Leeds and showin the class he undoubtedly has but didn't seem able to show for us.

Also, has there ever been such a one-sided one on one in between two premiership sides than Kewell on Geremi? Harry looked to be in a different league to Geremi and was well unfortunate to go off. I honestly believe we would have scored again if he'd not gone off, he had that side of the park in his pocket.

No, I aint become an overnight Harry Kewell 'number 1 fan' but credit where its due, he was brilliant yesterday, and has been a revelation since his missus mentioned his bum on telly!!
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

Playing right back against liverpool next season will probably be the most dreaded of tasks for any opponent with Kewell looking like his old self and the arrival of Gonzales.

To be honest, I dont have SKY so cant say I've seen Essien much.
However, when he was at Lyon he played a much more attacking role.

I feel Mourinho is playing him out of position i.e in a defensive role whereas he is better utilised in an attacking role.
