Not a rumour (although we will no doubt have been linked with him at some stage) but instead someone I would like to see us buy - Steed Malbranque!! He is maturing into a quality winger who has 2 good feet can track back and can clearly, based on the weekend's performance, score goals.

:nod good player David Raven, plays mainly in league cup games, so his chances have ceased for this season. Would be a good addition to Port Vales team. He always gives 100%
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

In tonights (London) 'Evening Standard' they are reporting that Melbranque is not sitting down to talk about an extension and improved offer on his current contract.
His contract expires in 18months, so with him seemingly not wanting to sign a new deal, I would hazard a guess that he is looking to play for a 'better' team come the summer time.

I like Steed, but the only problem is where would he play, especially if we do finally get a quality right winger *crosses fingers in hope of capturing Simao*?
Personally, I think he could be decent back-up (for the time being) and competition for Luis Garcia (as he definetly needs it, and will hopefully bring anoher 10% out of the little one!)

EDIT- Forgot to add that it linked us with a possible move for him (I know its paper talk, but just relaying it to the appropriate thread. OK! :D)

SWP to liverpool in the summer, sources say he isnt working very well in the dressing room and isnt fitting in on the pitch. el burro wants to bring someone else in with a bigger status. the right winger would love to come to join the reds who last summer won the euro cup. He has always loved to play for a team of liverpools stature.

Rafa is considering making a bid for Tom Soares in January. Soares was outstanding in our recent League cup defeat to Palace and proved last season that he is not out of place in the Premiership despite being only 19.
Soares is primarily a central midfielder but has been featuring on the right of midfield recently. Maybe this is a role that Rafa has earmarked for him.

Soares is a very talented youngster with a promising future. Provided the price isn't too steep I would be happy if Rafa makes a move to sign him.

He played well against us in the carling cup. Good engine, gets stuck in, strong and a good passer. If the price is right then it wouldn't be a bad signing.

I was really p!ssed off that we didn't sign dawson from forest in particular, good english talent who is now proving himself in the premiership. We should take more of a chance on young English players, provided the price is realistic of course.

It's nice to see that we are still interested in signing new up and coming British talent - not just foreigners.  I'm really impressed with the level of youth scouting at the moment.

It'll probably take us 4-5 years before we can answer that!

SWP?There's an interesting one. In IMHO I believe that Chelsea are overloaded with wingers (ok joe cole isn't a winger) and some of these players aren't going to be too happy if they have a limited run in the first team and won't hang around for long. Eg, Crespo, Robben.

I would be very excited if SWP came to us but Joaquin is apparently the better player. I would be happy either way.

Any further news on Walcott?
