He's back, no question about it. :D

To think the guy was being linked with Sheff Weds the other week...f**king hell what a waste that would have been. You could see today what that goal meant to him, and so long as he stays fit I think there are a lot more to come before this season's put to bed.

And here's a rash prediction for you - Robbie Fowler to make Sven's squad this summer.

LFC should buy him on a free this week and put him straight in the first team against Man U next weekend. :p

I tell you what though, in all seriousness - Crouch and Fowler would be one hell of a combination. In 2006, so long as he's fit, there are not many players better at picking up scraps in and around the box than Robbie Fowler. The last couple of weekends have just highlighted what I've been banging on about for something like 2 and a half years.

I know the fella is a knob and everything, but Anelka is a skillful player who would do well?
Or is that my lack of sleep.....

Can i just say its doing the rounds again, Benitez has apparently been asked about Robbie and said he rated Fowler in the past and its started new rumours which will come to the front over the next few days, expect the papers to be printing it.

Not happening, but the rumours are about to start i would think...

Not heard anything of this, but I think another eye-catching contribution against Bolton this weekend will really crank up the rumour mill.

He's available on a free this summer, and apparently Pearce wants him to take a significant pay cut if he's going to extend his contract.

So long as he can stay fit for the rest of the season, I sense a very interesting few months ahead in the world of Robbie Fowler... :)

Incidentally, the pecking order of English strikers right now is quite interesting, I'd say.

We obviously have...
Rooney
Owen
Crouch
Defoe

...but beyond that, there's a real hotch-potch of untried or inconsistent talent...

Bent
Vassell
Johnson
Heskey
Ashton

For me, if one of the first four get injured in the run up to the World Cup, any one of the above could be on the plane. And you know what? I really don't think Fowler's much further down the pecking order, even though he's only made two first team appearances this season. If he gets half a dozen more league goals in the coming months, his hat will be well and truly in the ring.

there's more chance of me playing for England in the World cup than Robbie Fowler.  :D

He was certainly a very rated and well known striker overseas needless to say. There was quite stick here when we saw his "famous" celebration of the goal sniffin.

I didn't like that tbh, because it's an ill example for so many youngsters. But here the press gave him too much stick, I find it hypocrite that when they all (famous people in spain, journalist, politics, everybody) sniff ??? (1) and they didn't seem to be ready to forgive him that gesture, even when he apologised for it (IIRC). Anyway, that should not mark him forever, as he's a sound striker.

I just wanted to comment that because that image of him really had an impact here :(

(1) It really scares me the level of nose drugs I see when I go out there nowadays among the young people. You go to the WC to make a proper pee, and you must wait some idiots take their dose  :no

Well, there's obviously question marks over Owen's fitness, and Robbie Keane is currently keeping Defoe out of Spurs' starting 11.

Beyond that, there's not a lot of time to look at Bent or Johnson in friendlies. I'm not sure Sven will promote Ashton ahead of strikers playing in the Prem, Heskey's a shadow of his former self (such as it often was) and Vassell, although he has been scoring lately, doesn't exactly look international class.

And don't forget that Fowler went to the last World Cup. With more good performances under his belt, that may start to count for a lot. :D
