I don't overly agree, SWP would of made our midfield great but we still haven't got a world class left sided midfielder.

But going back to the Owen comment - I totally agree and have always said Owen can only and will strengthen our strike force, can't wait to see MO back in the shirt he was born to wear

i think rafa maybe incurring the wrath of the fans here by being SO tight-lipped. but i sense things are about to get going. and rafa is playing it VERY cool.
btw baros and lyon is back on... :)

well hopefully this gonzalez farce can be sorted soon.
and as much as i wouldnt have thought of him, zenden on a free should yield some fruit.

I'm beginning to think Owen will sit tight at Madrid and reassess his options in the Jan transfer window . Reading between the lines i think his first choice is a return to us ,followed perhaps by a move to Arsenal . I don't think he really fancies a move to Chelsea as the situation there is not much better than  the one he's in at Madrid (i.e. no guarentee on how much footy he'll get) ,as for Man U ,i think the political situation between us and them would make them a last resort in his mind.

Despite all thats been said ,I still can't believe we haven't gone in for him . Quality striker dying to play for us again and we ignore it . Doesn't make sense .
:no  :(

They now have the following odds for Owen's Club in his next Competitive game:

Man Utd          7/4

Don't believe a single word you hear about Owen. Real Madrid are desperate to sell, and they are trying everything right now to get rid of a player they don't like.

Man Utd have officially denied that they are in for Owen.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelse, the italian clubs etc don't want owen

souness is the only one. souness is as we all know a big fool. i bet he gets fooled this time too.

We never denied that we would sign Owen. Benitez said that his priority is to sign a CB and a RM but he didn't write off us getting Owen back.

Man Utd can't get Owen because they can't sell Saha.

Mourinho has already stated that Owen would not play a lot at Chelsea if he joined .

It's an interestng comment that I hadn't really considered. I didn't think that they were that desperate to get rid of him, but you could be right.

I have always said that if the price would come down, then Rafa would move.....you don't want to be paying more than you sold him for. It would explain the circus developing around him.

Notice how it's been put about that today Man Utd and Newcastle are the clubs mentioned as having been one of the clubs to be interested in Owen.

My take on that is that Liverpool are the only ones to have made more than passing enquiries and these being mentioned are as much about making Liverpool make a decision rather than the other clubs actually being interested.

owen knows that he's going to love the job back at anfield if he ever comes back - he can and will be the 20 goal a season frontman. he's got an exciting supply line waiting to feed his shooting practice from xabi, gerrard, riise and crouch/moro as compared to his murphy, smicer, half-a-kewell, heskey days.

i think the liverpool board, majority of the liverpool supporters and even rafa would love to have him back, but the boy's  gotta be big enough to admit his spanish misadventure. Never regretted joining real? ya right!

Show some humility and you'll be back at the greatest club ever, feel the warmth of your hometown club, be an instant kop hero again(as rush was), win some serious trophies, and be part of the imminent red dynasty again! not a bad deal eh?  :nod
