People seem to have forgotten the own goal he scored against us, and at the same time lamenting him as a world class defender. Lets hope that was a one-off situation.

A dangerous ball was put in the box and he made a mistake, you gonna judge him on that one mistake??
I noticed him in euro '04 to be honest, and have liked him ever since (regular La Liga watchet btw!).

Thats football, the nature of the game. Carragher has scored own goals before I believe and so have many class defenders, that's an unfortunate thing but just the way it is.
He's a class defender regardless.
After all, own goal is an own goal, and we have to very much take it into consideration when we buy a new CB.

As a stop-gap one off Gerrard could certainly play there. He posesses all the attributes required and any mistakes would be disguised by his pace.
Realistically though, we probably need two new players which this near to the season starting is going to be difficult. I've said it many times before that I think we need someone who would adapt immediately to the Prem, maybe even someone who already plays in it. They need to be young, strong, powerful and quick. Unfortunately these blokes don't come cheap but sometimes you gotta dig deep.
Get on the phone, how much do they want for Ledley King? My suspicion is that a bid of around 18 million would do the trick both in terms of tempting Spurs and of turning the head of a top young player (Spurs are not in Europe at all this season and the World Cup is the Summer). He IS the player the player we need I'm convinced of it. We're not Chelsea by any means but given the fact the strings are tight at Manure and Arsenal now could be the time to dig deep and close the gap.
Go get him. He is our man.

instead of spending 18 million for king, i reckon we could get gallas for 10 million. Lets face it. Gallas will not be a 1st choice centreback at chelsea even though he is their best defender in my opinion. Mourinho will always play terry and his lackey (carvello) ahead of him.
They also have robert huth...so i guess (hope) they would sell gallas if we give them 10 million.....
