Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

The Guardian. 11th December 2004

The choices facing Liverpool FC
Option one: retain the status quo

Use the Champions League income to bolster Rafael Benitez’s transfer funds next month and continue to pursue new investment from outside the club.

Option two: accept the latest deal

Believed to have been put together by a foreign-based third party, the proposal is likely to offer David Moores a more favourable price for his shares than Steve Morgan’s long-standing bid, increasing the prospect of him being willing to dilute his majority shareholding.

Option three: accept Steve Morgan’s offer

Morgan’s fourth and most recent proposal to invest in the club would apparently offer Benitez ?35m to spend. However, Moores would essentially have to accept what he sees as a ’cut-price’ proposal from his long-time rival which, in the board’s opinion, undervalues the club.

Option four: sell Steven Gerrard to Chelsea

Get ?30m-plus next summer and use those funds to allow Benitez to plunder the transfer market and rebuild his squad into something approaching Premiership challengers.

**************************

I think this is the most serious situation that could determin our fate as a great club. It is going to be interesting times and it seems like the first time the club has been in such a volitile position. Times have changed, but I fear we have not changed with it. Resting on our reputation, has run out and I want to get back to the days of all the great players wanting to play for Liverpool. Perhaps only Alonso and Gerrard would be good enough for Chelsea/Arsenal/Man U, and that is not enough for a dynasty.

tell all the foreigners and wools to get behind their team and not just sit all the way through the game.

even against the greeks, the upper anfield road was sitting through out

Dont worry mate come May Liverpool will still be above Everton, we would only be 4 points behind now if it werent for Refs screwing us out of 5 points(examples: v Birmingham City(h), Bolton(a), Middlesbrough (h))

That reminds me mate who have Everton got in the last 16 of the Champions League? :D

Face reality, when your players start to get injured who will come of your bench to make a difference? Nobody

How is it a lame excuse

FACT: Muzzy Izzet cleared the ball off the line against Birmingham which would have been a clear goal to give us 3 points, referee didnt see it, they got out of jail

FACT: Luis Garcia scored a brilliant equaliser against Bolton and referee disallowed it costing Liverpool a point

FACT:Luis Garcia grabbed a equaliser against Middlesbrough, referee disallowed it despite tv cameras seeing nothing wrong with the goal, costing us another point

So thats not excuses im being perfectly straight

You forgot the Man u corner which was goalkick which resulted in a freekick and Zenden goal was clearly offside.
