we can do this with a draw or maybe a winning goal on the counter attack, the key is to flood the midfield to pin back the supply to monaco's attacking 3

-----------------kirkalnd---------
Josemi----caragher-----Hypia-----rise

----------------Hamman----------------

Garcia------gerrard-----Alonso----Kewwel

-----------------Mellor-------------------
I would be a proffesional footballer if i wasn't limited by my lack of talent.

This is going to be a tough one.

My hope is we can nick it 0-1, but realistically i see a 0-0 or 1-1.

does no-one see the merit in playing Biscan in a 3 centre mid thing with Gerrard and Alonso? you could still have Hamann in behind Gerrard and Alonso, with Garcia roaming around just behind Mellor the opposite sided fullback could support when Garcia is on the other flank.

                    Kirkland

Finnan      Carra      Hyppia     Riise

                    Hamann

         Gerrard             Alonso

                     Biscan

           - - - - - - - - - - - Garcia
                      Mellor
its not the chilli sauce on kebabs that give you ring-sting, its the actual meat. had one without chilli, and still had ring-sting. the chilli's only there to mask the nonsense they stuff inside that bread.

That formation looks a bit narrow to me - to easy to get around the back of midfield, especially if Risse goes bombing up the left. I would like to see a 4-4-2 with kewell playing deep off Pongolle or Mellor.

Monaco are in a poor run of form and haven't won for 8 games in the league so we have nothing to fear.

The team I would like to see is

                        Kirkland

Finnan      Carragher       Hyypia       Riise

               Hamann         Alonso

       Garcia         Gerrard         Kewell

                         Mellor

Finnan and Riise are both good going forward and can provide width with Hamann and Alonso to sit and protect then Gerrard can join in the attack at every chance he gets.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Jim its a bit unusual and wouldn't be my choice but I quite like your formation. Key is making sure Biscan stays advanced enough to stop Garcia and Mellor (big problem there but anyhow) getting too isolated. If that happens you end up playing a narrow 4-1-3-2, with the 2 redundant. In the main though mate its good I like it.

the thing is we dont really have wingers who get forward and put crosses in any way, and i dont think we need to be overly defensive as i dont think MOnaco are much of an attacking threat. (correct me if i'm wrong). and the thing i notced about Biscan is that he's good goin forward and and settin up moves. can sometimes leave the midfield bare when he does, but havin Gerrard,Alonso and Hamann counters this.

Yes it is an attacking formation, but i dont think it leaves us too exposed, as Biscan can easily pack the midfield and win balls as good (well maybe) as Gerrard when not in posession.

people get alarmed when they dont see wingers but you dont always need them when you've got passers like Gerrad and Alonso, Biscan who is driving, and Garcia is inventive.
