Basically he lacks speed and composure

Elanga is rapid, Kerkez isnt the only player in the division who'd lose a footrace against that lad. Agree with the composure comment though, he actually gets himself into some very good positions but his crossing/final ball is terrible, i guess we were spoilt with having Trent and Robbo for so long.

Agreed about Elanga being rapid but if we will play with a high press then Kerkez is not rapid enough and we will get burned all season by counterattack aimed at his side. Frimpong on the other hand despite his limitations is rapid. Virgil has lost a step and will need a pacy backup on his side of the pitch.

These fullbacks fill be with no confidence. Hopefully Iraola can work and get more out of them but neither look good enough to be at us.

The manager seems to think signing 1 player isnt going to solve our defensive problems, he seems to think the answer is the entire team need to up the defensive side of their games, as he pointed out for both goals on Sunday we had numbers back, we just didnt defend well enough.

Frimpong is garbage.

Useless going forward and awful in defence. He’s as bad now as he was a year ago.

He’s a pound shop Trent and shouldn’t start for us ever again.

Honestly, feels like we have that ishowspeed guy or whatever his name playing at RB.

Runs around like a headless chicken and has no poise going forward and poor defensively. The idea we've replaced Trent with this guy is comical. Did we send out Stevie Wonder to scout him before be bought him or something.

Kerkez not much better.

Frimpong is better when he's played further forward, shame Bradley got injured, those 2 were developing a decent partnership down the right hand side.

Kerkez isn’t much better, but he’s younger which is why I’m prepared to give him some more slack.

But I just don’t see the basics with him when it comes to a footballing brain (positioning, technique, concentration etc).

I’d love the lad to prove me wrong, but think he’ll serve the same old slop this year and will end up leaving for half of what we paid.

I really feel sorry for our CBs and GK for how exposed they are. They get no help from the flanks from players that are supposed to be defenders and no protection from midfield either.

Frimpong and Kerkez are not good enough and will have to be replaced, the sooner the better. In fact, Araujo is supposed to be able to play at RB too, he may not offer much offensively but surely he'd be decent in defence? Frimpong doesn't offer anything on either end anyway.
