Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

When he arrived in Jan he looked really good, blended in well and didn't have much pressure because he was rotated with Mane.

I feel since his taken over the mantle on the left his gradually dipped. No real competition and let's be Frank his not world class. Like electrum said, we were spoilt with Mane.

Last season though he did miss aot of games due to injury.

If Salah is injured I've got no confidence in the other lot.

Before we had Salah, Mane, Firmino and Divock. When one was injured we could easily rely on the others.

Gakpo,Nunez and Diaz are not on those lads level.

Mo, Bobby and Sadio were an all time great front line like Rush & Dalglish and Keegan & Toshack, it’s a tadge unrealistic to expect us to keep on pulling attacks of that quality out of the hat.
Our front 3 clearly aren’t firing on all cylinders atm but as a team we are still scoring regularly enough and in sufficient quantities to get us to the top at Christmas.  Diaz and Nunez are good players who are out of form but that won’t be the case forever

Agreed that Diaz isn't at Mane's level, not world class BUT I still think he's a top player. If he could add more goals to his play we might change our opinion.

Have to wonder, if we didn't have him , who in the current squad in better in his role ?

Woof , on the left we could have Jota with Nunez central or even vice versa.

I may be wrong but didn't Gakpo play on the left wing sometimes for his previous club / Holland.

If all are fit my first choice front 3 is Jota , Nunez (central), Salah with  Nunez interchanging with the other two periodically during the match to keep the oppo defence on its toes.

Jota is the most clinical finisher we have IMO and far more of a goal threat than Diaz.

Fair comment mate, food for thought  :)

If I had more faith in Nunez's ability to cross a ball , with his pace, I'd be happy to see him on the left of our front three with Jota down the middle.

I forgot about Jota lol, yup I definitely agree his the best finisher uptop besides Salah, his number have dried though recently.

If Nunez was better uptop we'd have one hell of a beast. I'm a huge fan of him but boy can he miss sitters.

Not bad but I thought we valued him at £70m at least. It seems we're the only ones willing to step down from our valuation of our players.

Anyway, best of luck to him, he's been a good servant to our club. Hope we don't end up missing him though.

Good business for a player who will be 29 in January and has less than 2 years left on his contract.

He’s been a good player, but he’s no Mane and I think his one dimensional play is a tad too predictable.

Confident we’ll bring in someone who will be an improvement for less money.

Great business in fairness for a lad that didn't want to be here. He was an alright player if we're being honest, Wasn't an improvement on Mane so hopefully we improve on him.

Thanks for the memories and best of luck to him!!

Diaz was brought in because he was younger than Mane but in truth he wasn't half the player Mane was. Great piece of business for the Reds and helps reduce the asking fee for a younger 'replacement' (you now who I mean...). The virtuous cycle of football rolls on.

I’m completely fine with him going, especially since he asked to leave. He never really looked at home in Liverpool and I thank him for his work. I think he knew he’d get less game time especially with Wirtz coming.

“It is understood there was an insurmountable gap between the offers pitched by Liverpool and the demands made by Diaz’s agent,” Joyce explained.

The Echo’s Paul Gorst, meanwhile, adds that there had “been no rush on discussions” from the club’s side and that “stance led to frustration inside Diaz’s camp.”

The 28-year-old had two years left on his contract at Anfield, which saw him earn around £140,000 per week, considerably more than the £55,000 previously claimed.

Saw him smiling away at the unveiling, never really saw him smile. First he wanted Barcelona then BM, he or his family clearly wasn’t happy at Liverpool so good luck to them. I’ll miss his song more than I’ll miss him. ‘He’ll end up playing for the “legends team” when he retires and he’ll talk about what a great club we are

I liked Diaz, good player, never let us down in terms of effort and end product much improved last season. Never thought he had 90 mins in him though, always looked gassed by 70.

Didn’t like the flirting with Barce via his da. Got a good fee for him (including a sell on if he goes to Saudi in future) and I think Ngumoha can back up Gakpo and ultimately will be better than Diaz in a few years. Wirtz can cover left too. Smart sale.

Will miss his song though!
