ab dont sound like houllier m8 lol injuries was one of his no 1 excuses when we got beat or we had a bad start, sure remember the other season he said when everyone is back we will play better, everyone came back and no change

but enough about houllier, but yes i would agree with stu, luck is a bad excuse to use, noone is kidding theirselves by thinking this time next year liverpool will be as bad as they were today, cause i doubt they will be

but not many teams get 2 of their strikers injured and manage to go on and do well without them, but i would of gave mellor his chance, and if hes not good enough we can get rid of him, but we need strikers up front, not midfielders, though i can understand y he played them up there

Some people seriously need there heads testing. He's probably had 5 bad games in 5 years.

Incredible statement....Hyypia has been struggling with form for over 2 years. One week he's great and then he looks comical a week later.Last season all unsundery were claiming Sami's problems were because "he was covering for Biscan",but in reality he has never re-captured the form of the treble season.Lets not claim he is one of Europe's elite centre-halfs on a season 4 years ago.

Have to agree that Sammi's been struggling particularly this season and on form Carragher is  the first choice defender which although commendable on Carragher's part is an indication of how much we are struggling when our former "Rock" at the heart of defence is being overshadowed by a player who is still learning the art of being a CB.........

Well said as Hyypia is nowhere near the player he was and no amount of hard work will get him back where he was.

Shockingly poor performance today not just from the team but IMO Benitez too.

Kewell is nowhere fit enough and having played 90mins in midweek should not have started, even so he gave a half- hearted display again.

IMO Mellor deserved to start and I couldn't believe Benitez left him out and then brought Pongolle instead of him.

Traore was very poor,Alonso had a nightmare and Carragher was the only player at the races as the rest looked like they just couldn't give a ******.

Baros was obviously a huge loss but cmon lads you can and have to do alot better than that.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

He did not "play" 90 mins in midweek. He was walking around like a lazy overpaid pimp letting Cahill, Viduka and Emerton do all the running and all the work

I have to say that I was never Hyppia's biggest fan, even in his heyday (personally I thought Henchoz was the better defender in 2000/2001). Thats not to say I'm slating him, but the way we played in 2001 and 2002 suited Sammi and it offered him a level of protection.

Nowadays I only rate him as a decent defender when we defend deeply, his problems when we play further up the field have been obvious since last season.

Always a difficult one this .............When does adulation trun to realisation that a player isn't the player he once was ?

I don't know the  answer but the answer probably lies somewhere inbetween blind loyalty and acceptence that a player like Hyppia has perhaps seen his best days .........

I'm not suggesting he's the same player. For christs sake i've said time and time again he's not at the level of a few years ago, he's lost a bit of aggression, a yard of pace, he's not as dominant in the air, he's not as set in his decision making and he's not as composed as he once was, but lets get a tad of perspective here... he's lost a TINY bit off each of those attributes, he's not LOST THEM COMPLETELY, he had masses in these area's and that made him the rock he was, he's still a quality player and anyone who thinks otherwise is simply clueless about football.

At his best he played in a system which got the best out of him. Now in the same system he wouldn't be quite as good, he's in a new system which takes a bit out of his game, but to suggest he's a poor player and a major concern is absoloute nonsensensical bulls@*t.

I "hear" what your saying Stu. I share your concern for Samm i playing under a different system. He's been struggling to adapt whilst other players have thrived.
The injury list is substantial and i know that you wil stil be here come the end of the season whatever the outcome, I wonder who won't be ???
