With Jota and Diaz out for a while a replacement was needed I guess. Hope he has a similar impact to Diaz.

It seems he plays more like what we are accustom to at Liverpool than Nunez. He seems more in the mold of Salah, Jota, Mane and even Diaz in terms of good at taking people on, quick and technically gifted.

I'd guess that Gakpo was a target for the summer but we bought the move forward as others were circling much like with Diaz this time last year. I'd think it makes it pretty likely that Firmino leaves in the summer when his contract expires as Salah, Diaz, Nunez, Jota, and Gakpo, plus the youngsters, is enough for 3 starting positions.

Now if we can try and bring forward a midfield signing to this window on the basis that Keita, Ox, and Milner will leave when their contracts expire in the summer. Availability is often the issue mid season so we might need to look at clubs who are in financial trouble, or are not in Europe and are not challenging for anything meaningful in the league, or players with release clauses.

Rumour in the market that we're after PSV’s Noni Madueke before the end of this window. Needless to say I've never heard of him.

Looks like Joao Gomes is on his way to England for a medical today after agreeing to sign for Wolves. Looks like the deal will be in the region of £9m-£15m.

We were linked with him during the summer and he expressed his desire to join us. I hope its not going to be another missed opportunity for us like it was with Mathieus Nunes.

This is from Christian Falk who is pretty credible. Just hope Bellingham and his camp don't change their minds in the next few months and we can agree a deal with Dortmund. Us putting in some better performances on the pitch might help him not change his mind!

“Bellingham’s story is one where you have to venture back down the years to look at the clear career plan in place for this player. I heard, when he was 15 there was a European tour for him; his father, Mark; and his agent, Mark Bennett (more of a friend of the family who’s helping – his father is in the driving seat).

“They went to Munich, Amsterdam, Turin, Paris, Madrid, Chelsea and also they were at United.

“There were talks in 2020 between Michael Zorc, who was in Birmingham, in which the family told Dortmund what they wanted: a career plan, playing time and a clear vision for his future. This plan for the future could be important in the next deal because he’s still very young.

“The next step should be the Premier League because he can always go to Real Madrid in five or six years, he’s got a lot of time. Jurgen Klopp remains the hope of Liverpool, he’s been convincing in terms of his plans for the player but Dortmund, of course, want a lot of money. If they don’t bring the money to the table then Real Madrid will be in the driver’s seat.

Bellingham would like to play for Liverpool. His father, who is the main character in this potential deal, is also convinced of that but Dortmund has to get the money for this deal.

I guess that is why we need to get him to commit now and get the deal done before summer. At the end of the day the risk will be on Liverpool due to any injury he may suffer this season. Still….. we need at least another top midfielder. Judging by Klopp’s reaction in the press conference, we are not flush with cash.

Our performances this season will have a major impact on players mindset when they consider an offer to join us .

Without Champions league footy next term I doubt Bellingham will sign for us.

Also read today that Moroccan midfielder Amrabat's representatives have rebuffed an approach from Liverpool stating he would prefer a move to Atletico Madrid.

When a player, virtually unknown to most of us prior to his performances in the world cup , chooses to dismiss a chance to join us perhaps illustrates that on the world stage we are going backwards

Moroccans are very patriotic and I was reading that we had a couple of Moroccans (can’t remember names) that never got enough playing time to progress, I think Morocco as a country was disappointed with us as a team and didn’t feel that we gave two of their nationals a fair shake. Maybe that has something to do with it also. I think Moroccans with generally choose France and Spain over playing in England.

Not too bothered about Amrabat tbh. He's what 26? And I've never heard of him before the WC. I actually thought he was that winger who played for Watford.

I can't see us having any interest in Amrabat. He's pretty poor on the ball. Not the sort of midfielder Klopp tends to go for. All our midfielders are fit now bar Arthur who is due back in training soon so it's not as though we're desperate for extra bodies. If we're bringing someone in it will be a long term target rather a stop gap to make up the numbers.

I know right? They even look the same. I was really confused with all the hype around him until I found out it was a different player entirely

6 days left in the window. Is that really it?   It's like watching paint dry.
