Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

NEW: Liverpool could be about to make an exemption to an unwritten transfer rule by sending out Ben Doak and Bobby Clark on loan in January, despite the two players having only just made the step up to senior level at 17 years of age. It’s rare for Liverpool to sanction loan exits for players so young - from all of the youth players to have been granted their first temporary moves away from Anfield under Jurgen Klopp, Harvey Elliott is the only one to have been under the age of 18. After impressing in their limited senior opportunities, there is the possibility that Doak and Clark will be sent on loans to give them more experience and accelerate their development.

BBC Scotland claimed that Nottingham Forest were monitoring Doak ahead of a potential loan move last month, while Preston North End have repeatedly been credited with interest in Clark. #LFC [liverpool echo]

Huge claims have emerged from the Argentine press stating that Liverpool have reached an agreement in principle for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

The deal wouldn't go through until the summer of 2023 but Fernandez would be a huge coup for the Reds, who are expected to add midfield reinforcements over the coming transfer windows.

Fernandez started the World Cup on the bench for Lionel Scaloni's side but barged his way into the starting XI, where he has excelled en route to the semi-finals.

More talk today of Fernadez having us as first choice to move to this Jan.

I just see Argentina this WC playing like a country under siege. Their coach seem to whip them up in Maureen type fashion as a team under siege, that no one likes that no one wanted to win. Their players all seem to play above themselves as they were at war. I hope this Fernandez is not another player that played at a higher level due to patriotism, the goalie and many others on that Argentina team certainly did.

Their country is having all sorts of political issues, they still seem to keep referencing the Falklands and as a country they seem to need that WC boost more than any of the favorite teams.

There's been too much noise coming out of Portugal and Argentina about our interest in Enzo Fernandez for it not to have any foundation. Seems to be hot property at the moment so we'd have to convince him to come here over other big clubs. With Benfica top of the league and in the knockout stages of the CL, I can't see them selling him in January unless someone pays his 120m Euro release clause. So I'm guessing he moves in the summer with someone possibly agreeing a pre-contract in January.

I would say we are definitely interested in him but doubt we will see it through if the fee ends up being north of 100 mil. Bellingham will cost north of that also so unless we sell or get that investment in it will be hard to see players like that arriving here.

He did look decent at the WC but think Kazza has a good point about patriotism.( Morrocco Players Especially).  It will be interesting to see how he plays when he returns to Benfica after the celebrations are over. There will be a lot of eyes on him as a lot of clubs are rumoured to be interested.

The World Cup will raise the price of many players that overperformed and made some players look better than they actually are. It's happened before and I hope we don't buy a player based on his performance in this WC alone. We've made that mistake in the past already.

The Fernandez thing is probably more about the Benfica connection than the WC performance anyway, the rumor was around at the start of the WC. He’s probably mates with Nunez which may make Nunez better to have a mate in midfield.

We and other clubs were linked to Fernandez in the summer. Benfica took the plunge and he's been performing really well in Portugal and the CL since. He was being linked with big clubs before the world cup because of what he's been doing this season.

Don't forget Diouf. Still can't get over the fact we chose Doofus over Anelka

Unfortunately they didn't cross paths as Nunez joined us the same window as Enzo joined Benfica. He was hot property at River Plate I even suggested he'd be a good signing for us, but it was obviously a risk. Benfica took the risk at £10m and he's turned out to be a real gem. I'm sure they'll make £90m plus on that gamble.

Looks like we're quite close to signing Cody Gakpo from PSV for 37m rising to 50m.

As it stands he is first in the Dutch league for goals, assists, shots, take ons and chances created.
