Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Scumbags like Branson and Phillip Green were through the process of not paying their staff any money at all during this crisis. One hour before the 80% gov scheme came into effect Phillip Green laid all his staff off so none of them could claim the gov scheme even though Boris screamed don't lay your staff off just 24 hours earlier.

I'm not agreeing with what we're doing, but I'm glad that all our staff are getting 100% of their wages and not having to struggle. Spurs are doing the exact same thing as us but not paying the extra 20% of wages making them on full pay.

The headline will always be about "the champions of europe" needed gov aid.. But Spurs, Newcastle and Bournemouth were doing this before us and no one batted a eyelid.

Yes very good decision  :nod

I just think its ridiculous that premier league clubs are allowed to do it in the first place. I could understand if it was 6 months down the line but clubs like Spurs and Arsenal ought to be ashamed of themselves by getting on it from the off.

It's an embarrassment... LFC can't afford to pay the tea lady but VVD, Mo etc... earn 200k a week?

Only reason it has been reversed is because of the backlash.

If the season does start again, behind closed doors, all it will take is one case to shut it down again.

Imo the season is over I can't see it continuing. Depending on how long this goes for it will be interesting to see what steps are set for next season.

Well, one thing we can admit to the owners and the other people in charge, they usually react after the fans and other people important to the club give negative feedback about something the club is doing. It's not something to praise strongly I guess but it's better than doing nothing and going through with whatever they were planning.

This matter has been reported as widely as in the Italian press. The Corriere della Sera ran the story referring to Bill Shankly's well publicised views on socialism (each player working for the others etc..) and was ultimately positive on the way the club had reversed it's decision. The take away from this is LFC is in the global spotlight far more than Arsenal or Spurs and we have to set a good example.

Kenny was admitted to hospital on Wednesday for an infection and subsequently tested positive for covid 19    He is asymptomatic apparently so hopefully he gets over it quickly.

How many people out there are carriers without developing symptoms and why at this stage is very little known about how its transmitted. It has been around now for 3 months and god knows how many of the worlds finest scientists and doctors are working on it and yet we still haven't a fecking clue of basic stuff like how long the thing can survive on surfaces.  Are we supposed to be wearing masks ? Apparently it isn't a requirement for the public but yet every medical professional out there is wearing them and fear running out. Why is the social distancing 2 metres in some countries and 1 in others. Why is the sky full of airplanes when apparently no one is supposed to be travelling https://www.flightradar24.com/42.9,-6.37/2  Just zoom out and look at the amount of planes in the air   The amount of traffic still going to the states is unreal.

It’s absolutely unbelievable red, crazy times indeed! History will tell us whether this is another Y2K moment for the world or it is a genuine threat to society. It is because this has never happened before we don't have a playbook to follow. China has opened up again but we don't know the effect of that long term and for all we know the virus could reappear but this time more drug resistant. With so much ***** on the internet you have to cycle through mountains of Sh*t to find the truth and then need to recognize the truth when you find it. The world is on lockdown for about a month in and we have somehow accepted this as a reality. Work has ground to a halt and trillions will be lost when all is said and done. I always said that it gets real when you know someone that gets it and I know fair few that got it (mainly in England) so as far as I am concerned it’s real and scary as hell that you could die in a few days from something you get as easily as a cold. We now wash our hands like we are about to perform surgery every time we return home from buying food, petrified of touching our face and wait to see when exactly we return to normal and what damage would have been done in that time.

I am currently in the Middle East and hope that the baking sun, which is imminent, will cook the feck out of the virus. I have a sports club catering to kids and I think this year will practically be a wash. First the virus and then the stigma of public gatherings, which will probably last longer than the virus even though sports are the best therapy for a strong immunity.

To make matters worse, no football on tv and we were on course to break all kinds of records and that chance could be gone. Some of us have waited thirty years for this season. We thought we had it a couple of times only to heartbreakingly slip up in the end and this time, where there was no real chance of slipping up, we get this random act of God that no one in a million years would have foreseen. The three most typed letters have become WTF and even that does not give it justice.

In other news, German players have started with training again. I expect the Premier League will follow suit soon enough, not because it's safe again, but because there's a lot of money at stake.

That's from 9.15 this evening    I visit that site regular enough and there isn't much if any difference to the amount of traffic shown today to what would be in the air before all this supposed "lockdown". There isn't a chance either that Airlines are operating these flights with only a few on board.

With practically every countries citizens in lockdown and the constant drip feed of fear to keep you inside, its hard to believe that there is still so much movement between continents  :veryangry

It’s a great resource, amazing that this kind of info is out there. I looked at 5am GMT and when you look at the big picture it looks busy but when you zoom in and look at the individual planes it makes sense a little more. There are a lot of cargo planes, private planes, and airlines that are flying probably only the heavy routes and once or twice a week...no where near the level of before. Great to follow though and so many planes with no details that seem a bit dodgy.

Also I saw two BA 777 flights coming in from JFK to LHR 30 mins apart which is strange, both scheduled.

I saw an AA flight from JFK to Heathrow, both cities on lockdown. I simply don't get it.

Kazza mentioned cargo planes, I suspect a lot of countries are flying in things like ventilators, PPE, pharmaceuticals and probably even food, I reckon that would probably account for a lot of those flights.
Although I live in the North End of Liverpool (not the South End where Speke/John Lennon airport is) we normally get quite a few planes flying overhead but I think I’ve probably only seen about 3 planes in the last fortnight, normally you’d see 3 planes in 10 minutes around here.
Incidentally it’s the 15th of April today, I didn’t even realise till just before, with this coronavirus thing it’s hard to differentiate one day from the next, I’m losing track of days and dates etc, every day seems like a Sunday.
RIP to the 96 and to those who have lost their life through this coronavirus thing too.
