Not for me mate, he had every right to go for the ball, he got the entire ball cleanly, the follow through was unfortunate.
However, considering todays softy rules, yellow was probably justified, but he got too much of the ball and the follow through was clearly accidental and VVD didn't mean to hurt the player, so not a red even with todays standards.

A brilliant tackle becomes an offence because of natural momentum is a massive frustration to fans, managers and players. Perhaps VIrgil should have thought blimey this ground is a bit slippy I’ll politely ask the player for the ball. There was absolutely no malice whatsoever in what Virgil did. I thought he was unlucky to get a yellow and yes I’ve watched it a few times.
