Excellent lets pray hes worth the money, if its £75m cash its a lot maybe staggered payments or inclusive of hitting targets in that.

Big addition in the new year that.

Big statement by FSG with this deal. No more f**king around, just done and dusted before the window opens. What's more, he'll be able to play in our CL campaign.

Got a feeling we might see more players coming in too....only time will tell if this is FSG's cash or the Coutinho money being spent.

If he's a success, no one will care about the fee. Likewise, if we sell Coutinho for £140m to Barca in the summer, no one will care about the VVD fee.

The only people who will care are Lovern and Henderson....one will lose his place in the team and the other will lose the captain's armband.

Great signing and a massive indication of intent. He linked very well with Lovren at SH. Will he get the Captain’s armband ????

Absolutely not convinced this bloke is worth that. That said, I don't want to see him fail.
Unless he's followed by another proven international CB, and a quality GK, it's (waaaaay too much) money down the drain.

If we hadnt paid that then City or Chelsea would have. Yes its a lot of money for a defender but it shows intent by the club. As Maureen said the big clubs pay for a defender what they pay for a striker

Welcome to the club big man, if he can organise and shore up our defence he'll be worth double that £75m. He could have went to City and guaranteed himself a draw full of medals but he wanted to play for the greatest club not the richest.
What I like is that we are starting to look physically imposing at the back, Virgil, Matip and Gomez are all big lads which should make us a bit less vulnerable from corners and set pieces.
Hats off to Jurgen as well, players are turning down the chance to go to the likes of City and Chelsea to come to us and I bet he is right at the heart of their decision making.

Fantastic news finally we have signed a quality CB. Money wise we all know it's too much but to be honest i couldn't care less not like it's my money :D.

Matip and Van Dijk to form a deadly partnership.

I wonder when he will make his debut??

Well, an year ago you'd have to be Jesus f*cking Christ to justify this kind of money, but things have changed after PSG inflated the market with Neymar. Obviously the player isn't worth anything near what we payed, but as long as he doesn't flop, I'll be happy with the signing.

Welcome to the biggest club in the world Virgil.

75m?? Bit pricey for what we are getting. He only plays for Southampton ffs. They are laughing all the way to the bank.
Why do we always overpay for our players??
I'm tired of hearing his name tbh. He'd better be fcking world class.

I'm thinking more like 40m tops.
TWICE the price of oxlade-chamberlain???? Do me a favour.
Klopp already has 4 centre backs, who is he gonna offload?

80p?

Does this mean FSG have got serious cash to bid for Kane and Lemar also.?

C'mon man, talk about using blinkers. There was no other CB in the world obviously and if Southampton said no to 50 million, then what choice did they have but to raise the bid until the mighty Southampton accepted.
Sure, great that they got a defeder, but anything but world class and the knives will quickly be out.
