With FSG they usually do prefer to offload one of our main stars for big bucks when they spend or shall i say try to spend. Suarez went and we used that money some what and same with Sterling.
I think if we do end up buying Keita and Van Dijk it will be at the expense of couts.
I just can't see us spending 140m on x2 players without fsg making money.

Sakho, Markovic are still here and that around 45-50m that fsg have not pocketed yet.

Apparently the German newspaper Bild is saying that Leipzig are preparing for Keita's exit and their Director of Football Ralph Rangnick is looking for for Keita's replacement.
One or two Journo's though are saying take this report with a pinch of salt, Leipzig's position hasn't changed etc.

On top of that Sky Sports News are reporting that sources close to Virgil Van Dijk have told them that he expects to be a Liverpool player before the end of the transfer window.

We know full well what FSG are capable of.

If Barca come in at 100m plus for Coutinho, I'm pretty sure Henry's greedy little eyeballs would light up and he will SELL SELL SELL.

So far the majority of the "fanbase" have had excuses for selling the likes of Suarez and Sterling. Which has been mind-numbing, to say the least. 

Coutinho is different in the sense that none of you can find any "valid excuses" to sell him, so it will be very interesting to see what the revolt looks like if he were to go to Spain. The 3 decades of not winning the title and our general lack of ambition under FSG has led to a disgraceful level of apathy amongst Liverpool supporters. So I'm not exactly sure how this would play out and how long it would take to remove them from our club.

I'm trying to stay positive even if we sell Coutinho, as surely that would have to spell end of FSG and finally their acolytes (especially on this forum) will need to finally bow their heads and accept they were WRONG and that the last 6-7 years have been nothing more than a sham, perpetrated by very rich ar.se.hols.

Come on Eds let's give FSG the benefit of the doubt, they seem to be trying their level best to sign Keita and Van Dijk which is going to set this club back at least £140m and that comes on the back of already breaking the club record on Salah.
As for Coutinho, yes I have to say I'm a bit concerned myself, after seeing the likes of Alonso, Torres, Mascherano, Suarez and Sterling leave that's only natural but look at what Jurgen said last Saturday about the situation. If FSG are planning on selling him they obviously haven't told Jurgen yet.

Barcelona are leaking their usual stories to the press about personal terms being agreed etc just to pile pressure on the selling club, they want the press to create a media frenzy to unsettle the player and to engineer a situation where all the speculation becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Let's not fall for their 'Jedi mind tricks' mate, those stories all pretty much originate from a Spanish radio station that acts as a mouthpiece for Barca, if Barca really had agreed terms with Phil and the transfer was going through smoothly the last thing they'd want is a leak to the press which may enrage our fans and force FSG to back out of the deal. What has no doubt happened here is that they have put in a bid, FSG have told them to get lost he is not for sale at any price so Barcelona have decided to step up the psychological stuff.

All football fans are born pessimists but let's look on the bright side for a moment, imagine, just imagine for a second that Jurgen isn't a spin doctor for FSG and we really are going to keep Coutinho. Imagine we sign Van Dijk and Keita as well. If we go into next season with Coutinho, Keita, Van Dijk and Salah as Liverpool players how fvcking good is that going to be? Could be exciting times ahead my friend.

To be honest Yakka I would be very surprised if we spent $140m on two players alone.

If you look at our expenditure under FSG we have net spent I think around double that but in their entire tenure COMBINED!

If they were going to spend that though it would make perfect sense that the Coutinho sale would cover most of that as I just don't think the sales of Lucas, Markovic, Sahko and (possibly) Can would come close. Hence my apprehension.

We all want Coutinho, Keita, Van Dijk and Salah in our squad next season, but I bet none of us would wager that this is a certainty. And ultimately the reason why we feel this way is due to FSG's ineptitude. Nothing else.

In response to that Bild story from last night which stated that Leipzig are resigned to losing Keita and are actively looking for his replacement Leipzig have come out and said that Keita is world class and £75m isn't enough to buy him, as far as they are concerned he's playing for them next season.
We need to move on, Keita is a very good player but we are wasting our time. By Bundesliga standards £75m is a huge amount and if they don't want to sell, fine, we'll give our money to someone else.
Renato Sanchez from Bayern is who I'd go for.

Matic then, plenty of decent midfielders out there who would strengthen us, in fact given our defensive frailties and given how physical the prem is someone of Matic's size and defensive capabilities might even be a better fit for us than Keita.
If we keep Coutinho scoring goals isn't going to be a problem, keeping the opposition out at the other end will be our main worry, 2 signing like Van Dijk and Matic may just be what we need.

The same with Keita when they were told at the end of last season when he wasn't for sale but yet we still are dragging this out to save face with the fans.  Its the same every year where we chase a big name or 2 and end up losing out before signing the like of Vincent Van Duck and Nabby kebabby for a fraction of the price.

Agree, definately other decent options avaliable (although dont see Matic as being one we'd bring in due to him being 29 and also Utd being interested in him)

He's quality! But I can't see FSG splashing out to build a landing site for his wheels tho...

They are just a bunch of plastics Mags, None of them have any experience within the game and it shows every year. We got lucky a few months ago over that young lad from stoke and ended up receiving a ban but yet someone decided that this was still the way to go and secure Van Dijk. We can blame the Committee and backroom staff all we want but the problem lies with the people who employed them in the first place. They have been making a balls of transfers for years now and half of them have even been promoted so I doubt change will happen either. Thinking about it last summer we made Van Dijk and Keita our no 1 targets for this year despite knowing that each one just signed a contract  Talk about being up against it from the start.

Its all pointless anyway as we know that if even if we do secure a few big names it will certainly be at the expense of our ready made players. Selling Couts and Emre but signing Van Dijk, Keita and Salah isn't what the fans want to see. We don't have a great squad at all and we need better players alongside the few decent ones we have so 3 in 2 out is a backwards step imo even if they prop it up with a few "prospects".
