Barcelona set to announce £58m Luis Suarez deal after negotiating £12m DISCOUNT
BARCELONA are set to announce today that they have agreed a £58m deal to sign Luis Suarez from Liverpool.
Reports in Spain suggest that the agreement is for a straight cash deal and will not involve any players heading to Anfield in part-exchange.
Suarez reportedly had a buy-out fee for foreign clubs of £70m but Barcelona have been able to negotiate a significant discount on that price.
Liverpool's hand was seemingly somewhat forced not only by the scandal - and subsequent ban - after Suarez bit Giorgio Chiellini, but also by the Uruguayan's wish to make the move.
Indeed, it is suggested that Suarez has stayed in Uruguay after the World Cup in the full expectation that he would be making a move to Barca ahead of next season
I can live with losing our finest player just ,but to lose him to these Spanish cuntz with such a derisory offer is hard to takeReally hope its *****.
IF, and I say if because this is the Express FFS, it is a discount based on 100% cash that may not be the worst thing in the world.
I suspect that we have played hardball on the fee and in return Barcelona have offered a long payment plan, ie 3-5 seasons. It could be that they have returned to the negotiating table by saying they'll pay 100% cash if it is less.
Not an unusual tactic at all.
We would get £60M to spend now, as opposed to £25M say. Bear in mind that if a payment plan over multiple seasons is agreed it doesn't mean you get the agreed transfer fee to spend immediately.
Nah, I don't buy that at all, if we sell him for less than the fee stipulated in the buyout clause then we must be fvcking soft.
It sounds like Barcelona are playing on the fact that Luis desperately wants to sign for them, they are just trying it on.
