I admit I was wrong about flogging Suarez...but this is the first time I've seen a player refused a transfer and turn it around to perform their best season on record.

However, I don't rate Skrtel and never have. If someone comes along with a bag of cash then I'd sell.

To be fair to skrtel he has been a rock for us this year, I'm a big fan of sakho but like agger and practically all our other defenders he has been in and out of the side through injury, skrtel on the other hand has been an ever present and more often than not our best defender on the day too.
Those goals today were vital, they weren't the 3rd or 4th in a rout they were the crucial first 2 that set us on our way.

Also he made a vital stop after his first goal that could have made it 1-1

Not totally sure we could get somebody a lot better than MS for £10m. He has his bad moments like all defenders but all in all I think he makes a very serious contribution.

As for Luis I know I stood by him and let's face it at times during the summer it got very heated in his thread. The constant day after day castigation from a certain forum member, who is no longer with us due to his partly self imposed lifetime ban, was very difficult to tolerate as a devoted lifetime red. Some of my mates who are blues were less critical. I could understand exactly were some supporters where coming from and the fact that they felt Luis had let himself and the club down. To be totally honest I never expected him to reward the fans loyalty (which at times can be a little bit misplaced) with such brilliance. He is an absolute magician. It seems a very long time ago since he played in Australia at the MCG in front of nearly 100,000 mainly Liverpool fans with possibly the saddest face in world football. The love of the fans have helped turn him into something very special. I'm not even sure that he would leave if we don't qualify for the CL.

So a lad who's had five good games a season over 5 seasons and has consistently played in the worst defence in the last 10 years is the answer? We're conceding more than a goal a game for ***** sake and he's the main culprit in most goals we concede.

A few good games all of a sudden means we forget the five years of cr*p and basic errors? ??? Brilliant. :no

Time and a place for suggesting we sell the lad as soon as we get a decent offer and it wasn't today ffs. There are times Stu when you are one miserable git

He was the fans player of the season a couple of seasons ago so I don't know where you are getting this 5 good games a season shyte from.

Give it a rest Stu.

Only "special" fans like you actually believe Skrtel has had "5 good games in 5 seasons". He is currently justifiably the first defender on the team sheet.

I actually hope you carry on with your vendetta against him, as his appearance count racks up and his goal tally increases your opinion of his beomce more and more irrelevant. You do a good job of digging your own grave mate.

He's clearly the key player in their last match against Arsenal scoring 2 goals within 10 minutes.

He clearly proved that the reds are ready to fight for the EPL title this season.

Hands down to Martin Skrtel! You're our MAN of the night!

I don't like Skrtel as a player on the ball, he makes far to many mistakes, scores as many own goals as he does at the other end BUT for helping us beat Arsenal at home he deserves a lot of credit. He is not by any means my first choice but while Agger and  Sahko are injured he is the best we have.

Mistakes are all relative. If a striker misses the target that could be deemed as a mistake. If a goalkeeper kicks the ball out to the opposition that also would be a mistake. A lot of the time mistakes are not punished unless they are as serious as Kaolo's recent misplaced pass. Stu has listed some of Skrtel's mistakes. It's a shame that he seems to concentrate on that area of Skytel' game rather than some of the more positive aspects. Defenders mistakes are likely to cause more of a problem for example than a striker missing the target. Skrtel puts himself in there. He is courageous and makes a serious contribution. Stu's recent "made up" stats are nonsense similar to the rubbish he wrote about the number of own goals that Skytel's has scored during his career at Liverpool. To suggest Skrtel has played cr.ap for five years is just a little stupid. You claim to be extremely knowledgeable Stu and at times you make a lot of sense however I think with regards to Skrtel you are talking a load of utter bollux

That's actually a very good analogy of Skrtel and not one I would have thought of using. If he was a striker, he'd skin someone, skin the keeper, be five yards out with an open goal and miss near enough every chance. The mistakes he makes are unforgivable schoolboy errors that cost us far too many goals. You may forget about the Chelsea and City games where he cost us the points, I don't.

The funny thing is, all the muppets who love stats ignore the one that counts, since he's been a regular, we've gone from having the best defence in the league and keeping clean sheet after clean sheet... to a side that concedes more than a goal every game.

The lad has played well in the last three games, he's scored a great goal yesterday too, he isn't the worst squad player in the world, but he's not the answer, never has been and never will be.

Dont worry mate ,Stu lives in his own little world in a place called 'Magic Mushroom Village' ,lets not forget that this is the lad who states he would have
give Big Martin a slap for his back pass against City . I suppose Martin can count himself extremely lucky that this particular enforcer was watching on a
stream ,so in actual fact what I think he meant was that he would send him a strong e-mail containing a cursory warning ,or lambaste him on Twitter

I totally agree mate ,Martin Skrtel has endured playing with the worst Liverpool full backs imaginable ,and yet he's still acquitted himself admirably .
