Johnson in his mind is a Primadona...He perceives himself much higher then his real value . That is why his work ethic is lacking and so many times he plays without focus ,sharpness and determination. I admit I don't like this kind of players and wish we could trade him.(problem his current backups aren't sufficient).

What!! Glenn Johnson apart from WBA has been excellent.

Kazza you said last 3 so i guess your including the City game a game in which i thought he was excellent. He won 100% of his tackles along with the rest of the defence.

Johnson is in a group with Suarez, Gerrard and now Henderson. players that give their all for the team

He was not good againt city but was very poor against WBA and yesterday. He was the worst of our players against City even though we played well as a team. Against WBA and yesterday he was awful. The amount of times he failed to take on a player and lost possession was irritating.

Against Chelsea he started making mistakes (go back and check) and the plastic fans started singing "Chelsea reject" he then improved and was probably one of our best playes which remained the fact until City where he started to slide. As I said he has been poor the last three matches and whether injured or not should be rested. We need the good Johnson, not the one that showed up yeterday.

He has suffered an alarming drop in form. From playing so well he has all of a sudden had 2 or 3 stinkers in a short period of time. Most of our players have been managed quite well so can’t see it being tiredness. Injury? Lack of focus because there’s nothing tangible to play for?

It’s a shame because up until recently he’d been one of our best players this season.

all players have a drop in form. he's been poor the last two games but he'll be back. suarez aside he's been our most consistent player this season

Agreed. On the whole he has been excellent this season. It’s just worrying when a player’s form drops off a cliff opposed to something gradual. Might be something more to it.

when your going through a sticky patch like johnson (he was awful last week against spurs) the last thing you need is a game where you are over run in midfield. the back 4 as a unit got very little protection from the players infront of them.

I don't think anyone will disagree that yesterday Johnson's first touch was appalling ,the amount of times he put the ball out of play in an
attempt to control it was soul destroying .

Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson is likely to see out his contract at Anfield and leave the club on a free transfer in 2015, SportsDirect News understands.

The former Chelsea full-back joined the Merseyside outfit from Portsmouth in 2009 for a fee of £17.5 million, signing a four-year contract with the Reds.

The England international agreed an extension to his Liverpool deal in the summer of 2011 committing his long-term future to the club after interest from Chelsea in his signature.

The 29-year-old earns a massive £139,000-a-week at Anfield making him one of the highest paid full-backs in the world.

Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, are looking to sit down with Johnson for talks and want to keep the defender at the club but it is understood they will not match his salary in their next contract offer to the England right-back.

Johnson’s current deal expires in the summer of 2015 and SportsDirect News has learned the defender, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury, plans to reject any wage offer lower than his current salary and see out his contract with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

I think Johnson has been one of our better players over the last few seasons in terms of consistency.  If you look at the right backs (or at least players who have played at right back) of the rest of the better sides in the Premiership - Zabaleta, Richards, Rafael, Phil Jones, Sagna, Walker, Jenkinson, Coleman, Ivanovic and Azpilicueta, I don't think I'd swap him for any of them.  Zabaleta I'd rate the best of that lot, Sagna was quality a few years ago but seems to be less consistent now, and Coleman has real potential but not the finished article - the rest are either average or aren't natural right backs.  Walker is so overrated it's untrue.

Will Johnson be value for money 2 years from now when he's approaching 32 on 140k per week?  Given how much his game is based on athleticism, my guess is no.  So I'd keep him for this season and next and if he wants to either go on a free or agree to lower wages at that point then either is fine by me.  No drama here.

Thats rubbish alright.  Not a chance that Johnson is on that salary either.  Nobody at our club would be on that including Gerrard...

Gerrard takes £150,000 a week, Carragher was on £120,000 and Johnson is on the same. Its not rubbish, unfortunately its what they are earning at this club, some of it in no small part down to Benitez who wanted certain players "at all costs" (hence the reason he complained when there wasn't money available for other targets).

I dont think he gets paid anywhere near the reported 140k a week. Probably somewhere closer to 90k I'd imagine. He's an important player for us and for the sake of continuity if nothing else, I'd want us to renew his contract (for anything less than 100K a week).

I thought that Gerrard and Suarez are our top earners, with 120k per week. I thought that the rest earned less than 100k.
