On the flip side, we had to wait 2-3 excruciating years for Lucas to have a good season. The same thing will happen here with Shelvey and if he's in the team anywhere near as long as Lucas was while he was finding his feet then it's going to be another excruciating watch.

Lucas was never that bad. He just didnt quite measure up to the world class midfielders we had back then like alonso, mascherano and Gerrard. Just how bad would shelvey look if he had to play in a midfield like that?

Shelvey: I took the fall for Liverpool woes

no shelvy he was a burden to our club when he got yourself sent off vs manyoo. n i still remember the numerous chances he missed when we played newcastle. i hope i nvr see him play in our shirt again for this season.

Instead of moaning to the press he should get his head down and improve his performances if he wants to get back into the team, just like hendo has done. The way we are playing at the mo, why would we change the team and that includes Sterling as well.

thats very harsh on him.
he has paid the price and said he is putting the head down and working hard to try and gain favor again, nothing wrong with that at all.
if anything we should be more concerned about this philosophy of crucifying players when they have had a bad game and punishing them with long spells on the sideline. this stuff needs to be kept in house, in private in rodgers office, not being blabbed to the media by player or manager.
tony barrett announced skyrtel was left out of the arsenal game over 24hrs before K.O which is just wrong, you cannot treat players like this and expect a happy dressing room.

The attitudes of some of the younger players in this Country is absolutely shocking at times, could you ever imagine Owen, Carra or Stevie coming out saying this when they were breaking into the first team back in the 90's? No I can't ever remember any of them saying stuff like this when they were dropped, they would of been unhappy at not being involved but they got their heads down and got on with it. Not go and open their mouths whilst on International duty.

Really disappointed in Jonjo, bags of talent but he needs to remember his age and keep his head down and get on with it.

Exactly my thoughts.

His opportunity will come but he shouldn't be getting above his station.

His colleagues are stepping it up under Rodgers and we are slowly improving
the squad and competition for places is tougher now

You either step up or bottle out and Shelvey has to raise it again, keep going.

Has anybody actually heard what he said or are we just relying on how what he said has been reported in our sh.it awful gutter press?  They are about as honest as Chris Huhne.

I know that several members posted their feelings about Shelvey's performance against West Brom in the games section but he was so woefully bad that I thought his performance warranted discussion in his own thread. He has admitted to being very poor against Stoke which was his last league appearance. That was several weeks ago and he has suggested that he has been working hard to improve. His West Brom performance was possibly worse which is disappointing as some time ago I had reasonably high hopes for John-Jo and it has all gone a bit sh.it shaped. It is not just John-Jo. Sterling looks like a different player compared with a few months ago. Clearly something is going wrong. Is it just the inconsistency of youth or is it lack of motivation or fear of making a mistake?

He also missed a header 2 yards out of an open goal.

I digress,

we should be listening to offers for him in the summer.

JonJo will do just fine he has a killer kick and good approach to the game ,he is quick to release a pass and has football smarts.
What you can't do is play him as a forward striker ,he needs to be coming from the back and control the game from behind.
