Chelsea have a billionaire owner and Spurs were trying to get the Olympic stadium on the cheap - they can't afford to build one.

You need more than just CL money to build a stadium . Arsenal funded a lot of their stadium through selling of land and sponsership

You've hit on another reason why Kenny has gone...the board weren't willing to give him anymore cash.

f**kin hell that AVB is really inexperienced, it`s a big ask for someone with so little experience to come into a high pressure environment like liverpool.
i think kenny being in the managers chair was keeping a lid on everything, yes there were a few whoppers and vultures around but he had the support of the vast majority of hard core match going fans.
now that kennys gone pandora`s box has been opened again and you sense the fans are restless, the next manager has got a big, big job on his hands.
the more i think of it the more convinced i am that benitez should be brought back, the wrong manager now, if they appoint a young manager and he`s out of his depth and the fans become even more restless it could all end up in a mess again.

Isn't over £100m worth of investment in new players not a sign of a manager having some backing? Had Kenny spent that money more wisely we could well have been in a much better position than we are now. We might well be a lot a closer to getting amongst the Champions League places in the leagues. However you're right, we need some investment directly from FSG, but that doesn't appear that's how they operate and we have to accept that, Benny!

With good management and a smart approach to the transfer market you can break into the Champions League places, just like Tottenham did, and Newcastle almost did. Enough funds have been made available since FSG took over. In Jan 2011 we reinvested the money we got from Babel and Torres and in the summer we had a net spend of about 35-40Mil. Because of the work the club has done on the commercial side over the last 5 years we should be able to sustain this level of expenditure and out-compete Tottenham, Arsenal (in the short term) and Newcastle in the transfer market.

How much of that was out of their own pockets ?

100 million is peanuts compared to how much it cost City to break into the CL.

The money was spent on players for the coming years not right now.

If they are just going to funds players purchases on sales and a bit extra then we aren't going to break into the CL.

That £100 million investment was funded through the sale of players wasnt it?

And the rich don't like spending their own money.....I know because I get my company to pay for everything

Ok I will reword what I said

I suspect they are unwilling to dip into their pockets and want the club to self fund then make profit.

They aren't going to give us a couple hundred million on players purchases

Do you expect them to be up there again or are they last seasons surprise package only to disappear back to mid table like we have seen with plenty of teams before

their squad is better than ours, and cost a fraction of it too

FSG never said they would dip into their pockets to buy players or build a stadium. Only a few select clubs run by maverick wealthy people are. It’s actually quite interesting because no one really knows what’s going to happen when one of these individuals want out because most of these clubs are consistently running at a large loss and without an owner securing the debt the club would get itself in big trouble. I guess the only options are either another maverick billionaire takes over the club or the club goes through a very quick and painful process of cutting costs (wages and transfer fees), falls way down the league and is then sold off.

No it wasn't just player sales, it was funded by our sponsorship deals etc and revenue that we make each season.
