Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

he's certainly not as imposing as he used to be and doesn't seem to save shots anywhere near as much as he used to. his distribution is still top notch though. i merely put it down to a bad season, nothing more, nothing less.

his poor form is hardly the biggest of our problems anyway. only city and united have conceded less goals than us.

have been saying all season that Pepe looks like his mind is elsewhere, and i fully expect him to leave in the summer. His heart isn't in it anymore and it shows

nah, i cant see him leaving, the situation has changed from 12 months ago and there`s nowhere for him to go, arsenal seem happy enough with their keeper and united arent going to spend big money 2 seasons running on another goalie, especially one coming off a poor season. besides they arent as flush as they once were so all their money will be spent on outfield players in an effort to try and match city. it must also be said that de gea has been quite good recently.
as someone has mentioned there are a lot of solid keepers in the division at the moment, the likes of vorm, krull, ruddy, howard at everton, the lad at wigan and even the 2 keepers at bolton (who look near enough down) could do a job at a big club, maybe they wouldnt be as good as reina at his best but they`d do a better job than he has done this season.
reina is a great keeper and a big personality within the dressing room, hell he`s even captained the side but if he has another season like this one next year he might be leaving anyway but this time not of his own choice!
you dont become a bad player overnight, reina is still a top keeper but he has gone through a definate dip in form, but everyone who has ever played the game including the likes of maradona and cruyff went through ups and downs. if we get behind him he`ll be back to his best again soon enough.

i hope he stays as he is one of our most senior players who is still in his prime and a valuable asset to the team.
replacing a keeper is a hard thing to do and if he goes it sends out a message that we are going nowhere any time soon.
if he does decide he wants to go then we should make michael vorm our no-1 priority as a replacement.
i really hope it doesnt come to that and he stays where he belongs, and thats here.

By his own high standards and in his own honest opinion he has been bad this season
He has been a big part of the problem and while I dont want him to go, if he cant improve he will become a liability
A great goalie who has lost his form is no different than a bad goalie

I wouldn't mind to much, Doni looks like a very capable keeper.

He hasn't been the same since Rafa's goalkeeping coach left the club.  Not sure whether that's a coincidence or whether that coach was just getting the best out of him.  A few seasons back he was always making miraculous saves and was good at saving peno's.

This season he has given away got a few soft goals at his near post and things like that.

Wouldnt want him to go though.  Its very hard to find a good keeper and Im sure Pepe will get his confidence back.

Never spotted if Pepe waved to the crowd longer than usual at the end of the last home game of the season. Hes looked very disillusioned over the past 2 years and has spoken constantly about the need for quality signings (as Torres did), so if he does go then i wish him the best. Hes been loyal and has given us 6 years.

the way he kicked the post when he made that good save against chelsea shows that he is more concerned about getting his form back and cementing himself as the clubs undisputed number 1 keeper than going anywhere else.
i cant see him apologising publically to the fans for his performances this season one minute then asking for a transfer the next.
