what are you on about? if you read my post i was having a go at both gerrard and reina for being senior players and not stepping up to the plate, nationality has nothing to do with it.
and by the way reina has probably let in 10 goals this season that he should have saved, even at the very start of hodgsons reign we were beating arsenal despite being down to 10 men for most of the game after joe cole was sent off and in the dying seconds of the game reina dropped the ball onto van persie`s head, imo he hasnt been the same keeper since that clanger a season and a half ago.
when you see the vitriolic stick the likes of carroll, henderson, downing, spearing, carragher, kuyt, cole, poulson, aquilani, jovanovich, ngog etc have recieved over the past season and a half for not being at the top of their games i dont see why reina cant accept some mild criticism for not being at his best for practically 2 seasons now.

We have this curious culture that means some are above criticsim yet others are fair game for a public flaying
Pepe was one of the greatest goalies ever to pull on a red shirt and was easily the best in the PL and possibly Europe for a good 5 years.
His halo has slipped of late and we are paying the price. Of course it is not all down to him and that would be a ridiculous statement for anyone to say. But, the way he once commanded the box and stopped shots seems to have gone, at least for this present moment. Whether he will get back to the way he was, or even if he wants to, remains to be seen. This is his darkest hour as a Liverpool player and I hope he comes through it. He could start by issung a public apology for his sending off as it was reckless and silly and could cost us dearly come the end of the season

i`m not sure about a public apology mate, he`s a footballer who made a f**k up not a politician that cost the country billions or started a war or something.
but reina like everyone else in the team has to accept his share of the responsibilty for our league form this season, our recent run is as bad as our worst run in our second division days 60 years ago! kenny has to accept part of the blame too, i dont know if our medical staff are telling him that certain players cant play on certain days because their blood sugar levels are too low or whatever it is they look at but chopping and changing the side every week surely cant be helping, one minute suarez is up front with kuyt, next minute he`s up front with carroll, then he`s up front on his own.....i dont see how that helps us find consistency.
we seem to be changing our side to suit whoever we play, i can see the logic in that if you are playing a stoke or someone but to do it every game just seems reactive, we seem to be reacting to what other teams are doing rather than letting them worry about us.
this is the third season in a row now under 3 different managers that players including senior players have under performed, let their heads drop and felt sorry for themselves. in benitez`s last season gerrard and torres looked not only isolated up front but disinterested too.
when alex ferguson went to united in 86 he came across similar problems for about 3 or 4 seasons but then he made the huge decision to get rid of the stalwarts that had been united`s main performers over the previous 6 or 7 years, players like frank stapleton, norman whiteside, gordon strachan, paul mcgrath, mark hughes (although he came back), remi moses......the only one he kept was bryan robson who was like gerrard figure to the club. the united fans thought ferguson had totally lost the plot, he was selling the players that actually performed week in week out and when fergusons new signings like the british transfer record for a defender gary pallister didnt immediately hit the ground running they wanted ferguson out.
ferguson took over a team that regularly finished 2nd under atkinson ( even in fergusons first season they finished 2nd), sold off the best players and finished 11th and 13th in consecutive seasons, no wonder the flags were out for ferguson.
but ferguson knew that the old guard were good players but they werent winners, they`d spent so many years behind us and everton that they didnt believe they could win the title anymore, if something went wrong they were that used to things going wrong they just accepted the situation and dropped their heads.
it was a close run thing for ferguson, he was one game away from the sack, but he knew what had to be done and had the bottle to do it.
i`m starting to come round to the idea that we need a similar revolution at anfield, over the past 3 seasons too many big name players just drop their heads when things start to go wrong, maybe we need to do what ferguson did, we need self belief and i`m not sure if our old guard have that anymore.

Reina's form has been poor to say the least, no doubt about it. He looks the shadow of a keeper we had 2-3 seasons ago.

It's funny though, he gets sent off and now everyone either says he should leave or more specifically wants to leave. It's funny to read the speculation straight after a red card.

"Nothing whatsoever"?
Really?
Are you serious?
???

It has almost nothing to do with Reina. He can take some blame for a few slip ups, but he is still well capable of providing world class goalkeeping for the next 7 or 8 years. The problem is he is a winner and won't accept to play in a team of Adams and Carrolls. So he will be off if the situation is still out of control this summer, and then you will find out how good a keeper he really was when the next guy arrives and start making mistakes. Just like you found out with Benitez and Alonso.

My comment (and i suspect most others) has not been influenced in anyway with him being sent off, its just he became the topic. I've felt Pepe would leave us since August. His head was turned by Arsenal, but he stayed with us due to loyalty.. but knowing how weak the team is it was obvious there would be no improvement. He has served his loyalty period so wherever he goes i wish him well.

Goals conceded 33 (4th in the premier league)
Goals scored 36 (13th in the premier league)

Now tell me where the real problem is...

Reina has been the victim of the team's insipid performances. Yes he let in some soft goals but he is not the cause for us being where we are in the table.
Focus should be on where the real problem is Carroll, Adam, Henderson, Downing, coaching deficiencies and a team without clue, passion and fight...

Pepé has been flawless for us over the years. He's been loyal and never been in any trouble at all. Yesterday he was a lil silly to invite the red card, but i'd not send him to the firing squad. He, along with Stevie G, Agger, Carra and Dalglish are the embodiement of our great club and all we stand for.

I can't believe people ask him to leave....he was angry and frustrated and he lost his cool. So what! At least he had shown some emotion that he cares. When us fans looking on the side on tv, we were frustrated as hell. So, why do anyone expect Pepe feel differently. We were shlt and if no players shown any emotion then it would be unrepairable. People will regret if Pepe indeed wanted to go.

i cant really remember reina having any outstanding games this season where i left the game thinking `we would have lost that but for pepe` so i`d say the defence probably deserves the biggest pat on the back for us being the 4th best in the league statistically.
infact i`ve felt like i`ve left a lot of games thinking `i thought reina could have done better with their goal` so the back 4 have really done well.
our strikers havent scored enough goals but neither have our midfielders either, it`s not just carroll and suarez who havent scored enough goals, in seasons gone by we had wingers like john barnes who used to score 20 odd a season and midfielders like john walk who did the same.
the blame for our poor season lies right across the team, if one or two players were out of form a team can carry that but we have been below par right across the team (bar maybe skrtel and agger).

It costs nothing to apologise for a mistake. It is a gesture that would be welcomed by most, because if we lose to the bitters then Pepe will have to take some blame for his not being there.
He could take some of the heat off if he said "sorry for letting you down". Also it would show that he cares that some feel he has let them down with his silly behaviour.
By the way I would rather hear evertons z cars on a loop than a politician apologising

I would guess Pepé himself has probably felt very let down by the team. He's always so solid and very often has to be on red alert for the big bag o' clangers we seem to carry around with us these days. Seeing Pepé yell at players for yet another f*** up has been an all too familiar sight this season. I can understand his frustration when the fingers are pointed at him.

I'm not trying to excuse what he did (which wasn't anything really, but rules are rules) but trying to see it from Reina's eyes.

Oh absolutely. No one is putting any blame on Pepe.

The four signings and Kenny have largely been the focus of blame and are responsible for us being in our worst run for 58 years.

He hasnt been outstanding this season, but with the exception of skrtel and agger who has? If we are going to try to rebuild again we need to keep players like pepe. He is still young for a goalkeeper and he has at least 5-6 really good years left as a top player. There are more than enough other players in the squad that we should consider selling before pepe. That is assuming he still wants to be here.

He has been loyal to the club through some though times, and has hardly ever missed a match for the seven years he has been here. We should be able to show him some faith when the entire team plays like Sh*t.

An earlier flawless "ok his air game has never been great" keeper who this season has showed some signs of being human. Still one of the 10 best keepers in the world. He lost his cool and will learn from it. That some people on here doubts this mans passion and skills is ridiculous when you take a look at how some of them defend the rest of the dross that is running around in wearing a liverpool kit.

The normal double standards for being none british players  I guess.

I reckon he's in the top 3 in the world really. Best in the prem without a doubt. He'd be first choice in any english team and probably most continental teams too. We can't lose him. If we lose Reina, who IS world class, how many world class players would we have left?  I suppose if he left and we had only Suarez (assuming he dosen't leave, and is he world class?)  and Gerrard (Just about over the hill now) we might finally accept that we are no longer a world class team and would set our targets accordingly.

Of course he has to take some blame. He is our goalkeeper you blurt! His job is to stop the opposition scoring but he has had 8 goals put past him in 4 games.
Your obsession with Carroll is beyond tedious and to make out that Pepe is above criticism is as stupid as it is ridiculous
