Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Kenny/Comolli needs to stop buying prospects and invest more into experienced quality players. There is a chance for the likes of Henderson and Carroll to be decent in the future, but we have been pretty poor in the market. We need to buy more players like Bellamy, Enrique and Suarez

If Dalglish gets sacked or walks then I hope Rafa Benitez is brought back, Lord knows I miss Rafael Benitez.

If he wants that sort of challenge, then fairplay to the lad, but he'll be repeating the same mistake he made with Inter Milan.

and how long will we give the new manager then? If he doesn't get the results? should we sack him after 1 year? we shouldn't give him a chance to build a team?

Get a grip all of you, manager needs TIME AND PATIENCE

I agree, I am not calling for Kenny's head at all. Yes this season hasn't been brilliant, but I think Kenny deserves another season to turn things in our fortune.

Kenny has done enough to deserve some time and some patience as far as I am concerned, though he needs to abandon this "Let's buy British" policy and he needs to be chasing the best possible players he can muster, regardless of their nationality.

Things aren't looking promising at the moment, but there is still time to finish the season strongly and get ourselves as high up the table as possible, and of course we're still in with a chance of winning the FA Cup.

I'd say this is the truth, I actually believe we have a very capable squad, but it is a squad that just hasn't produced the goods this season. For me that's the most disappointing thing for me. Carroll, Downing and Henderson, even Suarez to certain extent have come into Liverpool on the back of very solid form for their previous clubs and just haven't produced consistent performances. Luis Suarez seems to squander more chances than anyone else on our team and it's frustrating, but there you go.

I'd also like to know where Flanagan, Kelly and Robinson have disappeared to?

Agree. Next season will be massive for Kenny. Another one remotely like this and that will be the end of him.

He has been given more money than any manager in our history, and its that that has ultimately landed us in a mess. The English signings left you feel deflated rather than elated. English players are generally bogstandard in comparison to the top nationalities, and for whatever reason Kenny splurged the cash on them. Had he left it at the Suarez deal and bought no one, we would have a much stronger team than we do have.

The players didn't look that bothered today. Enrique has become a distinctly average full back in recent months even Kelly did'nt try to get forward that much. Maybe the players were thinking about the derby or the Stoke game.

Just saw KK on LFCTV saying that the team competed well with Sunderland and reacted well after going behind. Oh well I'm sure they'll keep plodding on keep doing what they're doing so you never know someone might make the goals wider and eventually we might win a few games!

I doubt we'd be in the situation we are now had we decided to stick with Benitez instead of sacking him after one bad season where the infighting at the club finally seeped through and affected our results.

I'm going to sound like a broken record on here, but sacking Benitez is probably the most stupid of decisions I have ever witnessed from this football club. Give Rafa Benitez £100m and he'd get you success, after all he got us cup successes on a £12m annual transfer budget each season.

However he has gone now and everyone at the club needs to back the manager.

Nail on the head. Rafa showed that when given money to spend he usually got it right. Look at us back then, top of Europe! Rafa and FSG would have made a great team imo.
