Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ola Mr Benitez » Fri Jan 27, 2012 1:11 pm

I was thinking about Henderson a lot lately.

Some of his touches, ball control and passing is brilliant.  the only thing is he does sometimes go missing, but I think he is going to be a massive player for us in the future.

I keep hearing people saying "we paid £16 mill for him he should already be the finished article", but lets think about this a minute.

Kenny and Damian brought in 4 british players last transfer window, and a few people complained.  What we have to remember is that when the Uefa rules change about home grown players, british players are going to be even more expensive.  Is it possible that the board decided to get in some really good young british players in before this happenes.  We now have enough Brits in our squad which means we can look further afield.

Henderson as I have already said looks like he could be a brilliant player.

I like Charlie Adam, he is involved in so many of the good things we do.

Downing - I dont know what to say about him.  We know he can be a good player, it just hasnt happened yet.

And finally Andy Carroll - when we bought him he was probably one of the most feared young English players in the Premiership and although there has been a small improvement in some of his play lately he is still looking out of his depth, but I do understand why we bought him. We need to get behind him and hope that once his confidence is up he turns back into the monster he was at Newcastle.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

He needs time, and ideally someone who can share the burden with him. He should really be used now and again to get his confidence up, the idea being we could get someone to slot in and play now.

Hendo is great technically. Hendo's problem for me is that he reminds me of that kid in school, the quiet one who's scared of the bullys, and hands over his dinner-money.

He needs to man up. His game would improve massively.

Andy Carroll was a man until he went to see Boyzone with Kenny. Now he seems more like a fairy  :D

Still, who better for Hendo to learn to man up from than Stevie G?

I've enjoyed watching him recently. I'm much less worried about him now, and much more confident that we'll have the last laugh as he grows into a very, very good player. It is all about his attitude, which has improved, but still isn't where it needs to be, and his fire to play for us. He has shown more of that playing alongside Gerrard, long may that continue, but sooner rather than later he is going to have to find his own fire, rather than play off of Gerrard's. He could still fail here, but the omens are good I think.

The only thing that's really missing from his game is confidence, it seems as though he doesn't think he belongs. I think that had we a fit Gerrard from the start of the season we would be seeing a lot more from Hendo by now, as he would not have been thrown in. The signs from him are encouraging, he needs to spend some time with Bellamy!

Seriously Guys what is Hendo doing on the pitch? We have all been following him for 20+ games now and i still don't get his position and his purpose on the football field?

I mean i can see him running and working his a$$ off ,he is being utilized to chase a lot of players but he hardly touches the ball and almost never does something meaningfull with it ,so what am i missing? Is he used only to put defensive pressure?

This young lad is still a mystery to me.

shhh...Don't stop the bandwagon...

Who cares if he gets 0 assist or goals in whole season.
He is an attacking player who is promising, that is all that matters...

We already have 1 Lucas, we don't need 11 of them...

Henderson has little or no impact. He runs around a bit, sulks and generally looks like a kid who is out of his depth. We are, for all intents and purposes, playing with ten men for most of the game when hes on the pitch

But please, we paid 16 million for the guy and he is an player that was bought to produce. Instead he is playing it safe, never going to the danger areas and looking generally lost out there.
We are Liverpool, not Bolton, which mean I expect a player to perform on the pitch  and not play someone who may or not become good in 5 years.

Despite playing a different position, Lucas was afforded time to develop and so should Henderson. Inevitably his price will mean fans are less patient but I think KD needs to bring someone else in for that position to take the pressure of Henderson.
