Where the hell is Maxi anyway? He's been criminally underused so far. At least he knows how to stick the ball in the back of the net.

I feel sorry for Maxi, he deserves a chance. I mean Kenny seems to put others ahead of him, or at least he did on saturday.

I would have brought him on, couldn't see the point in having Kuyt and Henderson on the wings.

IMO, this season as each game progresses and the way our fellow rivals for 4th NU, Ars, Spurs are winning their games, it is becoming more evident to me that we're going backwards this season. A 7th place finish is on the cards now.

I love Kenny, but this time round he seems to be making all the blunder, overpriced signings and poor tactical decisions. The summer purchases of Hendo, Adam, Downing have been a flop so far and they do not live up to their price tags. It is likely Suarez could go if RM, Barca make a move for him soon. Why should a class player like him continue on with a mediocre team like Liverpool? He left Ajax who qualified for CL every year for us, what made you think he will stay on with a club that struggles to even get 4th place?

To me, the season is over as far as CL qualification is concerned. We do not have the luxury of more time after we dropped points against mid table teams like Sunderland and Norwich which the top 3 clubs can easily brush aside and our 3 rivals for 4th are winning their games. And if we lose/draw against W.Brom this weekend and those 3 win their games, I'd say it's over and good night for this season. Say all the give Carroll more time, give the new players time to gel, in Kenny we trust as many times as you like, like the band still playing their music while the Titanic was sinking.

The appointment of Kenny and the revival of the 2nd half of last season gave me a lot of hope. But so far this season, there isn't much to cheer about.

I often wonder if its reasonable to believe that fans from other clubs (say Man u) would come on here pretending to be reds and write things such as this post. Why would they want to do that? You may well ask. The reason is it starts a discussion of how badly we are doing (after 9 games) and suggests that there is no hope, so why bother? Uncertainty and argument follows leading to negativity all round. This suits the purpose of opposition teams because if the ruse works and the fans become disillusioned and apathetic it transfers down onto the pitch. The managers job becomes harder and the players' form suffers.
Not that I am suggesting you are a plant. But you get my drift...
While we're on the subject. Is anyone watchng ESPN classic? Theyve just had united coming back from 3-2 to beat city. Then whacking arsenal 4-1 and the 98/99 fa cup game against us, which they won 2-1 is on next. Are we seeing a deliberate effort to show us how good they are and the 6-1 Fu*king was a one off, or is the boss of ESPN a skank fan?
Or am I just being paranoid???

Not miserable, just being blunt, pessimistic but realistic esp. if Ars, NU and Spurs continue winning most of their games and we either get beat or draw against mid and low position sides.

But don't you all think most of the summer signings were overpriced average players? The PL is such a fast, furious and competitive league, there is no time for our players to settle when you're a team gunning for a top 4 finish otherwise your rivals will be miles ahead of you when you think you're ready.

I'd to say currently, we doing sh*t, because Newcastle and Spurs did not spend over 100 million on players in the summer and looks like they are sitting very comfy above us.

i despise spurs with a passion but they have a tendancy to grind out results. they've also already played city, united, arsenal and us.

we really need to keep our unbeaten run going.

Spurs have a strong squad. 4th is possible but I think we need some quality re inforcements in January if we are to realistically finish ahead of them and Arsenal.

I firmly believe that 4th is easily achievable, and without panic buying in January, for every Suarez there are 5 Carrolls (not saying he is sh!t, only that we didn't need an injured player then). We need the players to have some belief, as they bottled it against Manu and have not been composed enough in front of goal.

Kenny needs to realise that Adam is a squad player, and for a midfield berth behind Lucas, Stevie, Henderson, Maxi and on par with Spearing. if you watch the game live you'd see that there are periods when the rest of the team have to carry him, and a couple of Hollywood balls are not going to mask that.

We need to make use of Maxi's link up play with Suarez and Stevie and get him on at some time during the game or I fear he might be off in January. Finally it seems that Carroll has learnt how to play with Suarez a little and this will push us on, as we have still been creating a lot of chances.

Johnson being fit now means that we have strength down both flanks, as he and Kuyt combine well, and Enrique and Downing have too, other than when Kenny has a brain fart and puts Downing on the right. We have the squad, and Kenny has now seen what all his players have to offer, now he just needs to make use of them correctly.

Exactly. Granted most of our buys havent necessarily produced what you would expect of them, we still have the quality in our squad to go out and perform well consistently without needing the reinforcements.

Players like Maxi and Spearing for me are good options to have in the squad. While not necessarily being starting quality for a title challenging side, they have special attributes that make them useful in certain games, against certain opposition, or as impact subs. To be frank, Id include C.Adam and A.Carroll to that list too.

Personally, Id rather see Spearing partner Lucas in the middle of the park against decent opposition than Adam (in a CM duo). Similarly, Id rather have Maxi play behind Suarez than Carroll more often than not.

Wont happen regularly, but for me it should happen more often if we are to get the best out of our players.

Remind me of Park and Giggs at united, Diaby & Bendtner at Arsenal..etc etc

Too many ifs and buts for the above imo. Stevie looks like he is out for another 2 months and I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson pulls up with something soon too. The main thing though is getting Henderson, Downing and Carroll to produce. Henderson and Carroll look to be making progress but we need all 3 to be on form tbh. Kuyt is just too slow and whilst I think he still has something to offer I think he's past it.

Main worry for me though is goals. Suarez can score but what if he gets injured? Gerrard is out again so I think we need to buy in Jan. I think we will buy in Jan anyway tbh but if we are still in with a shout for 4th around that time then I fully expect us to sign at least 1 player.

We seem to have swapped Gerrard for Suarez in terms of go to man for goals & results. He even makes Carroll look better when on the pitch.

I don't know how we would fair without him..  :(

Would like to another young striker added to the mix, preferably someone who plays with the ball at his feet.
