Mm.  I think we should just ignore our Spurs chum at this point.  He's had his fun.  We'll be ahead of them by about 6-8 points come May.  Sending you to Coventry now, Dave.  Which is where your team will be playing in a few years after wobble-chops has padded off to screw up the England team.  Nice year off in the Championship for you to look forward to.  Take the heat off you for a bit.  Isn't that nice?

Tottenham Dave wrote:I wanted to make a point about unrealistic expectations, but now some of you have turned this personal and have seen fit to have a dig at Tottenham Hotspur FC.

With that in mind, I'll respond:

See you lot have this 'magnificent' aura about you, like you are the only club that matters. Like you invented the game. Like you rule.

Let me tell you, THFC has been here since 1882, we don't have your numbers when it comes to trophies, but we have our own glory.

We play football, proper football.

Always have.

You haven't done that for years.

Of the top tier sides, you are without doubt the most boring to watch by miles.

And you have been for years.

I can't remember the last time I watched Liverpool and was genuinely excited about your football.

You're like a fancy Birmingham

You are arrogant beyond belief.

Here's a story for you:

I didn't make it last season (when we done you 2-0 with ease), but I was at Anfield for the previous two Prem matches between our clubs and you lot were embarrassingly quiet.
You were as poor a home crowd as I have have seen in the flesh.

Fulham were better than you.

How do you respond to that?

FULHAM HAD BETTER SUPPORT THAN YOU.

We even sang 'Where's your famous atmosphere' and you had nothing in reply.

NOTHING.

You cling to the past because that's all you have.

Right now, you need to realise you are a poor side.

The 4-0 was literally easy.

It was EASY.

EASY.

you have to be gary neville

FFS dave, what do you expect?? you come on a liverpool forum, all 'respectful' and everything and respectfully point out to us lot who live and breath the club that we are actually quite mediocre. what was it that gave you this incredible urge to come over here and say that? and why are you so surprised that we didn't all just smile sheepishly and say 'you know what, mate - thanks for that. you're right'?

we know that we aren't as good as we used to be, and we know that we need to put in some work to get back there. you'll also see that the vast majority of us are realistic about the situation and that we don't live in the past. we also know that we have an excellent manager who is respected by most people in football. we have quality owners. we also have a sprinkling of genuine class, and a few others who are good or at least promising. the potential is there if we manage it properly. we'd probably happily take modric or bale off your hands.... and maybe sandro.... but that's about it, ta.

you might have thought you were coming over here to make a friendly point, but when you go onto another club's forum and start making unprovoked comments about their their shortcomings then you are hardly going to be mr popular are you? think about it for a second and then bugger off back to your own forums and fantasise about what a massive and successful club you're going to be.

Class Andy.

Never known you, but now I see why people say they miss you.

I actually used to like spurs a couple season ago.  But like Dave said, they just didn't excite me anymore at all, and I actually somewhat liked them...

Dave being a Spurs fan knows we're a threat to them for 4th place. By the look of things at the moment, the top 2 places will be reserved for the 2 Manc clubs, 3rd for Chelsea and 4th is a battle between us, Spurs, A.Villa, Newcastle and maybe Arsenal and I know it will be a tough season for us esp. if we lose Suarez in the Jan transfer window, do not sign a quality, experienced centre back and an established right winger.

There is no point in bothering to argue with these spurs fans lads, they're deluded to fu.ck.

They think that they'll be challenging for at least 3rd this season and we'll be stuck around 8th.

They think that every one of their starting 11 is superior to ours and believe Suarez is not even a class player and hugely overrated. They say they're relieved they never signed him as he would be sh.it for them.

They talk utter nonsense as they always do when they win a few games. Once they lose a couple again they'll all crawl back under their rocks

Brighter future than us my ar.se. Redknapp will f.uck off to  England pretty soon, players like Modric, VDV, Bale will go to bigger clubs.

We will be good enough to deserve fourth this year but unluckily Tottenham is looking well up for it.

Your squad is very ordinary.

Your first 11 is ordinary.

I completely respect your club's history, but right now you are not a threatening prospect for any decent Premier League side.

................blah blah blah......................

I genuinely think you have literally no chance at finishing top 4 this year.

At a time when our club is emerging from one of the most troubled periods in it's history it's not surprising that some of our fans are showing great enthusiasm concerning the prospects for our club, just as you are Tottenham Dave with your implied suggestion that Spurs are much better than us and will finish above us in the league.

You suggest that some of us "Liverpool fans need to wake up a bit", personally I don't feel that a top four finish for our club is an unrealistic expectation, it won't be easy and I do expect Spurs and one or two others will be up there with us battling for a CL spot.

Like most teams we do need to introduce a bit more "quality" into the squad but I find your description of our first eleven, one that when fully fit contains three world class players (Gerrard, Suarez and Reina) plus six or seven experienced internationals as "ordinary" frankly laughable.

You give us some flannel about respecting our history but then dismiss us out of hand as contenders for the top four.

Never mind delving into the mists of time to examine our respective histories just a glance at Liverpools and Spurs achievements in the 19 years since the start of the premiership should prompt you perhaps to show a bit more respect and certainly be more cautionary before you write us off.

seasons '92/93 to date

Liverpool                              Spurs

1 Champions League trophy       0

1 Uefa Cup                              0

2 FA Cups                                0

3 League Cups                         2

2 European Supercups               0

12 top four finishes                  1

In the last two seasons your club has improved, finishing above us on both occasions (the only occasions since the start of the premiership), I won't completely write off your chances of repeating that feat but your assertion that Liverpool have " literally no chance at finishing top 4 this year" suggests to me that it's you who needs to "wake up a bit".

As the saying goes, "form is temporary, class is permanent" .

Your team may be showing some good form Tottenham Dave but like you, very little class.

Kenny, you must know that today's football players esp. the foreign imports are mercenaric and will not stay long in a club that offers no CL football. If we continue to struggle in our games esp. away games and without much prospect of a top 4 finish, they will opt for the clubs that can provide CL.

Suarez did say that a move to Barcelona would be his dream move. Doesn't that tell you that if we don't at least qualify for CL every season and if the 2 big guns Spanish clubs want him, he'll take it like a shot. Most of the star names are in the rich clubs playing for CL.

This time last year, who would have thought Torres would be sold in Jan and Mereiles sold at end of Aug. And from an Arsenal perspective, they would not have guessed Nasri and Fabregas would be sold. So we can never tell what's around the corner for these foreign star players.

So if by Christmas, notice I use the word 'if', we are miles behind our rivals in the race for 4th, I am sure Suarez will consider his options. I would if I were him who is not a Liverpool fan but joined Liverpool hoping for CL football, but as a die hard fan, I hope to see him here for the rest of his playing days.
