ALBERTO AQUILANI - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Thing is in the new set up where would be fit in? Kenny would have to pull Gerrard back as Aquilani is best used in an advanced position. Already he was toying with either Meireles or Gerrard up there.

I think he will be staying in Juventus, I don't think Kenny would keep a player who doesn't want to play in England anymore. Lets face it his signing was at the wrong time, maybe if he was fit and playing games for Roma we would have seen it differently, however that was 20m down the drain

Do you have a link Tubs? I've not seen this news anywhere.

Juve will only pay £5m for Kop flop Aquilani

Liverpool will have to take a £12million hit on Alberto Aquilani if they want to do a deal for the Italian midfielder with Juventus.

The Turin club took Aquilani on loan for the season after his failure to settle at Anfield following a £17million switch from Roma.

And Roy Hodgson allowed him to move back to Serie A for the year in the hope that it would secure a permanent return.

But while Juventus are interested in signing the 26-year-old at the end of the season, they have told Liverpool that they will have to renegotiate the £10million buy-out clause that was inserted into the loan deal

Juventus claim that their financial position means they can only afford to pay a maximum of £5million – and they only want to pay that in instalments.

Reds’ boss Kenny Dalglish may even bring Aquilani back to the Premier League rather than accept such a heavy loss on a player who arrived in England with a big reputation

f.uck them!  We sold Mascherano for cheaper than he is worth and it seems like we always get raped when selling players.

Take him back or sell to someone willing to pay at least 10M.

Take him back, he is worth more than that and if the player has his heart set on playing in Italy then why did he sign for us in the first place?
If Juventus want him they will have to pay a decent fee.

Sure Kenny will do the right thing.

This is the position he occupied at Roma along side De Rossi for the most part. Dont believe he will come back but i would welcome him with open arms. 10 million for him is laughable

hmm I'd be tempted to cut our losses, take the £10m and invest into someone who fits into the team better. I'd rather have a solid box to box beside Lucas, one who can put a good tackle in as well as support the attack, if not then someone whos solid defensively. IMO neither Meireles or Aqua fit the bill. Meireles is best in attack, putting him back next to Lucas will take that away (I think Hodgson's use of him supports that)

Aqua didn't work first time round, I don't think we should invest 10 games next season finding out if he can cut it or not

Thing is mate it did work last time, when he got fit and played he was brilliant. Its the position hes played most his career so i cant see how it would be a problem. Maybe it would be better to bring him back and buy a player like DeFour, Banaga, Adam or M,Villa to play along him instead of Lucas. We could even put a cheeky bid n for De Rossi.

Sure hes abit leightwieght but id rather have 11 leightweight players in the team who the oppostion cant get the ball off then 11 beasts who cant do :censored: when they have posession

nothing more than a pure insult with that reported £5.mil offer.
id have him back rather than let him go for that.he would definately add to the squad and we play a lot of games in a season to warrant him being here.
so what if he is similar to what we have but if merieles, gerrard get injured at least he is a quality replacement and would help us to maintain consistency rather than throwing in a makeshift.
we have already to many players with half the ability of aqualani in our team and that needs to change.

thing is, Aquiliani doesn't want to come back. So, while i don't think we'll take the lousy offer Juventus are offering, i don't think he'll play for us again.

Lousy offer? What other team can you think of would offer more than that for him? Aside from us that is?

Take it, cut our losses and move on.

Hmm... 5m for Aquilani sounds insulting but at the same time you don't want an unhappy player....? what to do?

Tell them to get stuffed and sell to the highest bidder but I would like to see him back, maybe Kenny can sway him. 5 million is an insult!
