But im honest, id prefer to finish 6th with no Uefa Cup or in the top 4.

I dont see the point of the Uefa Cup. Playing on a Thursday with reserve team away in Russia then back each week playing catchup in the league playing every Sunday. Nobody cares about it until the semi finals and to win the thing you have to play NINETEEN games!!

Thats half a league season!

No thanks....

Fair enough, mate, and I kind of agree about the hassles associated with the Europa League (although 'a trophy's a trophy' and all that).  With that said, I completely want to see us finish ahead of Spurs in 5th.  It'll end our season with some excellent momentum, give the lads some form of European football to look forward, send a message to the footballing world that after a too-lengthy flirtation with obscurity in the first half of the season we've stormed back to knock on the door of the top 4, which should help the job of signing top players come summer and, last but not least, it'll remind Spurs fans everywhere that they were just tourists in Europe and are back where they belong. :D

I was previously of the opinion we should look to avoid the Europa League but after seeing the number of young prospects we have I think would be a good idea if we did qualify for it. The fact that people are debating just goes to show how bad UEFA have fkd things up. But we should always try to finish as high as possible.

What a turn around. I didn't for a minute think that we would get 4th place but I did dream.

Sunday at Anfield lets nail Spurs. I am not the biggest fan of the Europa League but if we take the approach that we will blood the 'young team' in the EL then I am happy to accept that there might be some good to come from it.

We can keep alot more players happy if we're in europe and we all know the bigger players arent going to be playing all the games. I'm delighted we've (virtually) qualified. I also think that playing sundays has become the norm anyway, theres usually 3 or 4 games being played.

In agreeance with all of you.
Like Bob has said momentum is a great thing in football, finishing the season as strong as possible is a must. It will help keep players happy and raring to go for new season and will also help our prospects of signing the players we want.
I actually love Sunday matches to be honest, gone are the days of Saturday football really.
Few bevies and watching the match on a Sunday is sound  :)

All those that don't want to see us in Europe unless it's the CL are imo 'Kin clueless

We're not in the CL because we weren't good enough

We didn't win the "tinpot" Europa cup last term because (guess what) we weren't good enough.

Whatever your personal opinion is of the Europa cup it is recognised as the second tier of European football and there have been some tasty teams (we've been one of them) in the competion.

It's important (imo) that we maintain as high a profile as possible in Europe for a number of reasons,
1, Financial
2, Helps attract good/better players to the club and maybe for some that are already here to stay
3, A chance to give our younger players some valuable experience on the European stage
4, Even if it's only considered by some to be a "tinpot" trophy, European nights at Anfield are still special

Roll on next season when we win the damn thing and go on to qualify for the following seasons CL.

Agreed!

Whats the point in signing a few players this summer if we're only gonna be playing one game a week?  The youngsters will never get a look in at all if thats the case.

Also, when you get defeated.. how horrible is it when you have to wait another week to play again.

and people complaining about the forum being quiet, it will be much quieter if we have 15 less games

:D

I was at the game the other night, i was shock how many of our own fans. did not wish us to end up in 5th.
As i tried to say to the guy next to me that if we get 5th Kenny could use it as part of pre season and then to use the young kids untill we get to the bigger games, if we get knocked out that way then so be it.
i think it in all its something like 10 more games than the cl we have to play, well thats the price you pay, but its also money coming into the club that can be spent on players and a chance to show how good we are, hey we might even win the thing, and if we did i hope all the fans that did not wish us from being in it dont get tickets to the final or even put it on tv.

if Rafa or Roy was manager right now i dont think i would be so kean on us being in it, but this is a chance for kenny to work out how to play games in Europe.

I have thought the same thing too Lakes. The King hasn't managed many European home and away ties (I think that showed with Braga), and so a full season of EL could be good preparation for the CL.

But, in the end it is 11 vs 11, and KK seems to be doing a pretty good job of that...

Im couldnt care less about the Uefa Cup and ive always said it depends on how many players we buy in the summer and how many youngsters get games in the competition that would make it worth while. I think above everything else its about making sure we finish above spurs and put a massive spanner in thier plans, now (hopefully) they have nothing to offer a player over us.

If we signed 4-7 players in the summer and gave games to the likes of Sterling, Suso, Coady Wisdom plus the ones who have come through this season then id be happy about playing in the competiton.

Imagine if we did it how many bitter people would say it was only the Wafer Cup

I can already hear the Mancs now  :D
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road
