How much is/was Aquillani on?
How much is Jovanovic on?
How much is Agger on?

It's a useless argument really in the broader context, the only thing you can question Cole on is his injury status, like Agger, like Aurelio, like Gerrard and Carroll et al.

The only thing to say about cole is that kenny doesn't fancy him as a starter obviously . Being honest he has been dogsh!te this year , but also we do know that he is/was a quality player . What we have to get right and it's the same with maxi and the other fringe players is do they add value to the squad , or are we better getting rid and looking elsewhere or to the academy .

how much does Gerrad earn?

It's a daft arguement. Cole hasn't had the best of seasons, for sure. But who has?

We need depth and with Jovanovic and Maxi likely to be leaving we'll need someone who can come in off the bench to cover the midfield. I'd give Cole another seaosn...but whenever Kenny will is another matter.

Can we afford to have someone sat on the bench earning 90 grand a week ?

Kenny will be manager next season - it's pretty much a guarentee - we are looking at true wide players already but Cole isn't even that - so where does he play ?

Off a striker ? - well we have two players better and more productive there- Suarez and Kuyt

Where exactly would Cole fit into the team - he has to be more than just a squad member .

Why do people always bring up the 90k a week wage, I don't give a sh*t if he is getting paid 200k a week. I think its a poor argument when someone brings wages into the debate anyways, he can be earning less than 90k because of taxes

What matters most is what he will bring to team, while gybs is so happy that Joe Cole has failed with Liverpool just to prove a point, I'll agree withe ace regarding Cole's qualities and I think we need a strong squad next season if we need to go all out for a title challenge, f*ck the 90k, we need players like Joe Cole on the bench that would bring more options or use as plan B.

Do you want to say that to the thousands that give money to the club daily , weekly and monthly - how much he pays in taxes mean feck all when we still fork out 90 grand , we arent Man City who can afford to fork out massive wages on bench players - and just to make the point again - new UEFA rules mean we can only spend what we earn so we have to get our finances spot on so 90 grand on someone who doesnt play week in week out is wasting money best spent elsewhere

What matters most is what he will bring to team

What exactly does he bring to the team ?

Cole's qualities

Which are what ? And when exactly did he last show it - in either a Liverpool shirt (never) or a Chelsea shirt ( 3 years ago before his serious injury )

There is no point constantly going on about Cole's supposed quality when he hasnt shown any quality for years now

Its very useless to argue Cole's 90k wage in an argument! We have players like Aquilani, Degen, Jovanovic, Agger, etc... earning more than 55k and either are shyte or too injury prone. In Joe Cole's case he isn't 100% fit. I don't know how your doubting Cole's talent when EVERYONE knows what he is capable of. a 100% fit Cole would add some needed depth to the team

Funny, I remember him coming off the bench and scoring the winner at Old Trafford to effectively clinch the title for Chelsea this time last year.

He probably doesnt figure in the starting 11 today but then again you never know what happens until next season... One thing is for sure: he hasnt done enough to guarantee his place in the squad..

90grand a week is not what im talking about here.. I'm talking about the club having a well balanced squad that can go out and challenge for honors.. You cant do that unless you have quality in depth.. If we sell him tomorrow and bring in a Krankjar, Arshavin, A.Johnson, A.Valencia, Malouda..etc type of player i'd be more than happy... That said, to get that sort of player would cost the club quite a bit of money with no guarantees that said player would be better than J.Cole or would get more opportunities...  I dont really believe that Cole got his opportunity to show what he offers with Liverpool yet for whatever reason... To see Kenny bring on Shelvey as a wide player ahead of Cole is surprising to be honest..

To answer your question GYBS because i know you wont stop asking it and i probably wont be around to keep arguing... He doesnt figure in th starting 11 now because he hasnt earned a spot for whatever reason.. What he offers is a potentially top quality player who is already contracted to the club and who can do a job if managed properly by someone who gets the best out of him..

That's a good post mate.

kenny doesn't seem to be much of a fan and it does look like Cole will be on his way in the summer BUT i'm not sure Spurs will be willing to take on his contract given he's on big money. If we can keep hold of 5th spot and qualify for Europe next season there will be more than enough football to go around and perhaps Cole can show us what he's made of.

Have to admit I can see why Benny the Noon has concerns over J.Cole, personally I'd give him another season to see whether he can play an important role in the side, whether it be from the bench or whatever. His injury form is a concern, but so to is Agger's, Aurelio's, Gerrard's, and Carroll's however I won't beat him because he was a Roy signing or the because of the wages he's on.

Apparently QPR are looking at Joe Cole...

Was watching some footage of Joe Cole a few days ago from his Chelsea days... Probably one of the most talented English footballers in recent times. Technically he was miles ahead of any other English player when on his day.. I dont really think he got much of a chance last season but when he did feature, he was largely unimpressive.

I think atm, we'll probably look at any offers we get for him. However I'd be very surprised if Clarke and Kenny havent put together a special training program for Cole to try and improve his fitness before the new season... One things for sure, if he can get fit and start playing anywhere near his performances for Chelsea he'd be one hell of a player for any side.
