JOE COLE - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Going by what Steve Clarke was saying, i don't think Joe is gonna be offloaded.  He'll be here for another season.

Might be easier for him this year as there won't be much pressure on him.

Might be but I still can't see where he is going to play, especially with Aquilani back. He has never been a wide player.

I suppose ideally it's just behind a lone striker, I just can't see him getting many games.

I still think if we get an offer for him he will be sold.

Agreed, given how this has turned out I'm guessing people don't expect him to break into the first team

Let's hope he comes back the player he's capable of being, woul certainly offer another dimension and a selection headache.

His best position is still a bit lost on me mind

Cup games. He'll get a run out in the FA cup and League cup games when Kenny slightly adjusts the first 11

I think Joe Cole's attitude has been spot on, he hasn't complained and he is working hard to get fit again and fight for his place. I heard his summer hols he spent his time working with the fitness coaches to get back into shape, shows that he is at least trying his best

I think he has looked really sharp in the two friendlies so far and like metalhead said his attitude has been good.
Happy if he stays personally, but i think if any offer came in for him Kenny would sell.

him or maxi have to go imo. on last seasons form JC would be off. But he really seems to have knuckled down and has looked like getting back to the joe cole of old in the two friendlies. I loved maxi for the two hatricks, but perhaps with this Joe Cole 2.0, maybe its worth giving him another shot ???

I don't think Cole deserves a spot in the squad.  If we were basing the decision on friendlies, N'gog would be 1st choice  :Oo: .  Cole hasn't shown enough to be considered.  Get rid.

I just can't see where he is going to play if Gerrard, Downing, Kuyt, Meireles and Aquilani are all fit and vying for a place in the team. He is way down the pecking order IMO. Useful sub I suppose but not for the weekly salary he is on ???

disagree totally.
he was unfit and not playing often.
I didnt see him slagging off the manager or whining, just a good player struggling to play to his best frustrated.

Seems like a decent lad to be honest and doesnt deserve stick.

Add Adam and Henderson to that list as well.

5 million a year he gets paid and for that he has given us nothing . As i said 12 months ago - Cole is a shadow of his former self since his injuries and his signing was designed to try and pacify the fans after Rafa going . There is nothing he can offer us anymore - Sell as soon as possible

I dont think we signed a player on the basis of pacifying fans Benny.
I think we signed him as he was a top a player on a free transfer.
Agreed it clearly hasnt worked out and his wages are very high, however getting rid of him due to this might not be very easy.

Top players don't go on free transfers any more mate - top players no longer in the prime looking for a final day do .

Every other club refused to give into his wage demands for a reason - he wasn't worth them anymore .

The owners/Purslow/Hodgson didn't go into the reasons why no one would pay it and just gave him want he wanted because he was an England international who at one time was one of the best in prem - they knew some fans ( majority) would go extremely happy about it and forget the probs the club was having .
