Heres the interview, maybe Sabre can translate it properly. He seems to have changed his tune, from the interview he gave in december but things have changed since his mates gone to Chelsea :glare:

If he is wanting to go to the Mancs we should not allow him to remember how Fergie carried on over Heinze, well Kenny needs to take a leaf out of his book.

Which one is it Cigg , an ill ask my mate in Madrid to have a look at it ,

in the english version that's been linked to it looks like they are putting words in his mouth. nowhere does he says he'd be tempted to go to the mancs and nowhere does it say he leave if we don't play in the CL. i reckon if you asked any of our players if they'd like to play in the champions league they'd say yes, of course they would.

i'l take a look at the spanish version

I can't hear nor see videos at work, but I'll be able to translate it in a few hours if Andy doesn't do it before.

i'l take a look at the spanish version

This is from the radio interview aswell.

Goalkeeper Reina, who joined Torres at Spain's training base outside Madrid on Monday as they prepare for Wednesday's friendly against Colombia, said there was nothing to be done but wish the striker good luck.

"Football is like that, as players we come and go," Reina was quoted as saying in Spanish media.

"You have to understand his decision, he felt it was a good opportunity to continue developing.

"The club has to look forward and forget Fernando. He is not here anymore and we can't do anything but wish him a lot of luck."

Torres had a miserable debut at home to Liverpool on Sunday, squandering several chances before being substituted in the 66th minute as Chelsea lost 1-0.

One travelling Liverpool fan held up a banner reading: "18 titles, five European Cups - is Chelsea a bigger club?" while another threw a Liverpool shirt bearing his name on to the Stamford Bridge pitch.

"It's logical that people don't understand it but I think they have to make an effort and remember what he did for the club during these past three and a half years," Reina said.

"He scored a lot of goals, he provided many entertaining afternoons of football and that is what we have to remember, the smile that he put on people's faces in many matches.

"In my case a friend is leaving, it's tough but football is like that.

"Yesterday at (Chelsea) was a bit strange but football has these situations.

"Today you are playing with a team-mate and friend and the next you are playing against him but you have to wish him a lot of luck. He is trying to make things work out well for himself."
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

ok, here's a rough synopsis of the interview. it was actually a couple of interviewers in discussion with reina and torres, talking about the national team as well as their respective clubs.

reina was saying that he is now the last of the spanish in liverpool and that the club is in a time of transition. there are other spanish speakers in suarez, maxi but it feels different.

he says that liverpool is always and has always been a big team, but its currently not on level of others like arsenal, man u, chelsea and man city. currently liverpool are not challenging so you have to respect decision of torres and hopes fans will remember good times he gave us.
he jokes that torres believes he's the best and so he has to go for it

torres comes on and presenters joke that he's deserted his spanish friend. torres hopes the fans understand his motives and decisions
blah blah, opportunities, blah blah. they all say that football is like that now. reina and torres agree that is normal for players to change clubs now if they think there are better opportunities elsewhere. torres says he still feels a lot for the city and the people.

torres says it felt very strange playing against his old team mates at first, but as game went on he felt ok. he jokes that reina asked him not to score. through the whole thing its obvious that reina and torres are good friends. torres says he doesn't feel pressure from the price paid for him because he was already most expensive signing at liverpool. he wanted to get over year of injuries and disappointment in all aspects of his play but liverpool due to all the shít going on wasn't offering him what he needed, chelsea seemed to be the light at the end of the tunnel for him.

reina says again that the hardest thing is saying goodbye to friends, they both talk about the pleasure of sharing family life which is now finished between them.

reina says his place is in england and a return to spain would be difficult, especially as the 2 biggest teams have good keepers. the interviewer mentions that man u and arsenal are looking for keepers. reina agrees that they are and that he can't say anything as his contract is with liverpool. he admits that everybody likes being in teams that fight for titles. he says liverpool always fought for titles but sadly liverpool last 2 years not like that. he wants to be with the best and win things.

not really conclusive in any sense apart from confirming the way that most footballers see their careers now. if the grass looks greener somewhere else and the gate is open they'll go through it without thinking twice.

its a radio interview, ivan, so i was taking notes as i listened. maybe if you give it a listen you'll notice any little nuances or subtle messages that i missed.

on the other hand, its not really surprising that its generic footballer cráp. its pretty much all they do unless they're called gascoine or cantona.

Well then the answer is clear. Buy more spanish! They all loved it here when rafa was the manager and we had Reina, Arbeloa, Alonso, Reira, Torres - Now its just Reina.

So we buy Llorente and Navas and he'll start to feel happy again!!

Which is why we support the club first, and the players second. They are only servants of the club, for a time.

I think Reina is right. Celebrate their goals/tackles/saves while they are here, but what happens when they are not Liverpool players isn't all that important, in the end.
