I am hopeful that tomorrow will see Roy go.

I think his recent comments have put him in a position from which there is no return.

A look at the league table sees us below the likes of Stoke, Sunderland and Blackpool. It is half way through the season (almost), and that situation, without his barbed comments should be enough to get him the sack.

I don't understand all this "difficult circumstances" b0ll0cks that the media keep defending him with. I also don't get the argument that he was left a poor squad.

Roy has indeed made it poorer than it was in July 1st. Granted he could not keep Mascherano, but had a choice in the loan moves out of Aqaulani and Insua, and their subsequent replacements Poulsen and Konschesky who both compete for a place in the worst LFC 11 of all time, and cost us £10m!!!!!

The squad is one of the better ones in the league, and is easily good enough to challenge for a top four finish. With Roy he seems to think avoiding the bottom four is acceptable. Read the badge on your blazer Roy, it does not say Fulham any longer.

He just does not seem to grasp the expectations of the club or the size of it.

The postponement of the press conference today is a sign of hope that things are happening behind the scenes right now, and we can start to move forward.

There need be no rush to find the long term manager, we have many options who could and would take the helm and I'm sure improve on recent performances. In no particular order, and most of these (not Rafa) could work together in some form...

Dalglish
Evans
Thompson
Benitez
Aldridge
Rush
Barnes

of those available now who could be a longer term manager...

Jol

are the obvious contenders.

Hopefully the thought of Roy spending money in Jan on similar players to those bought already will be enough to make NESV make the change...if his insulting and naive comments last night were not.

Hodgson has to go no question about it so the only call is whether we hire a caretaker or a manager on a long term contract, either now or in the summer. Complete guess but I think NESV thought Hodgson would see us through until the summer when they would appoint their own man but recent events have scuppered that. If they really have big ambition they can take Deschamps and the likes now with money on the table despite these lads being involved in Champs league with other clubs. As we all know money talks. This situation will at least give us some idea of the new owners ambition and their understanding of the task ahead and at this point its much more about them than Hodgson.

Just using Deschamps as an example really, point being if NESV have really earmarked a guy for this job they can do it anytime with money on the table without waiting until the summer. Personally I dont think they have that kind of commitment and it will be a slow process with these people but at least debt free. Big question is whether we as fans can cope with that in the interim and how they deal with what is likely unrealistic expectation from a generation of supporters and their offspring in the meantime.

look i dont care if roy is sacked or not....but you lot must understand the the team will play not much better untill ne players come into the team, Roy was only given a few k to spend from a list of players given to by the board, then the window was shut and then new owners come in.

i dont wish to shoot the guy untill i hacve seen what he can do with the money to back im...i mean for god sack we gave rafa tones of chances to get his buys right.

Fan rift too deep for Hodgson to repair, says Lawrenson

This is first time that I can remember a Liverpool manager having the fans turn on him after such a short time in the job.

Roy Hodgson has been that what, five months? And yet the fans are not happy because they have seen the way he sets out his teams home and away and they are not impressed.

I think he is a lucky man though, because the new owners appear not to be of the knee-jerk variety. They seem more inclined to take the softly, softly approach.

It strikes me that they are wondering what the benefits of sacking Roy would actually be. Who else is out there, for example and who that person could bring in during the January transfer window that would improve things.

Because despite what people may think, you have to be very, very lucky to get someone in mid-season who will actually improve you.

That said, you can't hoodwink Liverpool supporters. Roy has had a go and expressed his frustration at the fans but they in turn want to see a Liverpool side that they can be proud of.

They have had a look at his teams and it has not been good enough.

At the moment it is so negative and sadly, they are not even in with a chance of the top four. Right now it's touch and go for the top half at best.

Lakes ive said before the only window this fella should be allowed near is one that we can either push him out off or he jumps himself, theres not a chance in .Hell would i want him anywere near any transfer money , See what he can do good god we have seen enough of what he can do , if you wanna be visiting championship grounds next season carry on backing him,

Liverpool's American owners are running out of patience with Roy Hodgson amid fears that the manager's relationship with the club's supporters has broken down irretrievably.

Despite the fact that in one poll 95% of Liverpool fans wanted Hodgson to be sacked immediately after last night's 1-0 home defeat by Wolverhampton Wanderers, there appears to be no great appetite for regime change. John W Henry and Tom Werner of New England Sports Ventures are prepared to give Hodgson more time after six torturous months.

However, Henry has already labelled performances this season "unacceptable" and the next three games – against Bolton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers in the league and Manchester United in the FA Cup – are likely to be critical to Hodgson's chances of surviving until the summer, when his position will be reviewed.

Henry and Werner, who run the Fenway Sports Group, through which NESV controls Liverpool, are understood to be concerned by the breakdown in relations between fans and the manager. A poll on the Liverpool website The Empire of the Kop drew more than 4,300 replies, with 95.5% of respondents answering yes to the question: "Do you want Roy Hodgson to be fired today?"

His win rate of 41% is almost exactly the same as that achieved by Graeme Souness during his time at Anfield and is the poorest by any Liverpool manager since Bill Shankly created the modern club. The defeat by Wolves, which Hodgson considered Liverpool's worst performance of a dismal season, was dominated by ironic chants of "Hodgson for England" and by calls for Kenny Dalglish to take over.

That latter scenario is unlikely to arise even if Hodgson is fired. Given his impassioned loyalty to Liverpool, Dalglish would be unlikely to refuse an offer to return to the job he quit in 1991. However, his candidacy to replace Rafael Benítez in the summer was rejected almost out of hand by the then managing director, Christian Purslow, and his successors are acutely aware that recalling a man who has been out of frontline football since a brief spell as Celtic's caretaker manager more than a decade ago would create more problems than it would solve.

Fenway has no desire to install an interim manager and if Dalglish were unable to pull Liverpool out of their tailspin it would tarnish his glittering reputation and that of the board. If Dalglish were a qualified success, he may block Fenway's plans to bring in a young, long-term manager.

The former Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard is the favourite, although Hodgson has pointed out that the Dutchman's last job at Galatasaray ended in failure. The Marseille coach, Didier Deschamps, who was interviewed for the post of Liverpool manager in the summer, has moved to distance himself from fresh speculation linking him with Anfield. He has let it be known he would not welcome an approach while Marseille are still in the Champions League and that his long-term aim is to manage the French champions when they move into a refurbished Stade Vélodrome in 2014.

While recognising his position is precarious, Hodgson, who was voted the League Managers Association's manager of the year last season, insisted he still retained the support of a dressing-room that often failed to give Benítez its wholehearted backing. "I am lucky in that the support I have had has been from the players and from within the club," Hodgson said. "I haven't had a lot of support from the fans since I have been here. The fans have not been happy with what they have seen in the whole of 2010 and since I have come here we haven't won enough games to keep them happy.

"That is the way of football. When you take on any job, especially a big job like this, and results do not go the way you want, especially at home, you are going to be a target for disapproval."

In my opinion, if Nesv are hoping to come out of this with any credibility they need to make a decision, and make it now ...they need to show the ruthless streak needed if they truly have a vision of this club competing for trophies

C'mon you fool. Do you honestly think new signings will make a difference to his clueless, inept ice age type tactics?. You can crow all you like about how average or poor the current set of players are but when Hodgson took over as manager of this club people seem to forget he actually stated that his best strength was to get the best out of players who other managers cannot. He did not say "buying good players" but getting the best out of existing players.

He asked for 10 games, well them 10 games passed and quite frankly we are dogsh!te, now he wants a transfer window and you want to give him more time, whilst we see the likes of Owen Coyle, Ian Holloway etc work with far less talented squads and have their teams playing better football, working as a unit, fighting for each and every ball but most of all their teams look like they have a gameplan whereas out current incumbent doesn't seem to have a plan 'A' nevermind a plan 'B'.

He knew the predicament and quality of players he had at his disposal when he took the job on. He makes me cringe everytime he speaks with the press, he makes me cringe each and everytime he strokes his chin or scratches his head. The man is in it over his head and has not got the qualities to change things and improve us. F()ck giving him any money to spend get him out and get him out now. I seriously doubt anybody brought in as a caretaker manager until the end of the season can do any worse than our current boss who is quite frankly not up to the job.

You are quite frankly trying to defend the indefensible, quit while your ahead, we are sinking quicker than the titanic with this man in charge of team affairs.
