I think it depends on how much sh'it you think the club was in when Hogson took over as to whether or not hes surpassed or even reached expectations. It depends on what your expectations were for a club that was in meltdown, turmoil and on the brink of disaster.
If you thought this is the way we were in the summer and feared for our very existence then you may well think Hodgson has done well getting us up to 9th and possibly breaking into the top 6 through Christmas.
If however you believe we werent that bad, it was a blip and Roy had taken over a decent squad which just needed tweaking, then you will obviously think he has under achieved.

my expectations were dumbed down at the start of the season and understandably so, but roy has failed to even meet them so far.

and as for this "dross squad", yeah look at all the dross that benitez left here - not one international. what the hell was he playing at?  perhaps look at getting some players in that played in the world cup or something.

So you fall into the second category then

I personally feel there were very good players, good players an sh'ite that he left. It was because he couldnt go further with them that he went.
It was always going to be tough no matter who took over, unless they had a magic wand to change things overnight...

who gives a feck about Rafa. I couldnt care less what Roy does better than Rafa. It doesn't matter how good Lucas plays he is not LFC quality even at his best, nor is Maxi. Babel might be but his attitude is sh!te anyway

Roy is not good enough, if you think he's doing a better job than rafa then fair enough but FFS we aren't where we should be. Our aspirations haven't changed, that's why Rafa left, because he wasn't achieving what we aimed for. Neither is Roy, it was nothing to do with Rafa, nothing. Stop hiding behind Rafa to shield Roy

infact lucas hasn't been performing much differently from last season. he's basically achieved what he has by knuckling down and not whinging when he wasn't a first teamer and he was getting booed by a section of our own moronic supporters. the main problem last season was him and mascherano didnt complement each other at all.

as for babel, he was excellent in his first season here but his deficiencies since have been as much to do with his own poor attitude than anything else.

credit for keeping him in the team but not for improving him as a player. that's purely down to lucas himself.

the thing that has changed is that now the team's woeful performances are buried and the pretty average ones are lauded from the rooftops, the complete opposite of last season. last season everything lucas did wrong was magnified a million times now it is not. he was never as bad as people made out.

Its an assumption on your part that its down to Lucas himself, obviously some of its down to hard work but it might also be to do with whatever the new manager has said to him or been doing with him in training.

Lucas in the early part of last season was our best player Ben ,
and until Mascherano came back to  reality and realised throwing a strop would not push his plans of donning the Barcelona shirt any quicker ..... he remained so
So surely given Lucas's consistent improvement over the seasons we should give him the credit of believing  this may be a result of the Lads own volition
