The teams above us are hardly on great form either, not to mention we've played some absolute dross at Anfield in the season so far, with the acception of Chelsea and Arsenal. I'm not talking about performances either, which is another thing, but the quality of the teams we've played. Like I say, with Roy, you're only as mediocre as your last home game. The away games are the reality of his tenure.

Good post E.R....... it seems like our cowardly inept away performances are being conveniently swept under the carpet ...

His skills seem better suited to turning the underdog into a force to be reckoned with, but I believe he can balance that up here by working miracles with a genuine top 4 contender. True, he has displayed a certain level of tactical nous over the opening half of his tenure, but of late he is starting to get it right on and off the pitch. I have first hand knowledge of what it was like to deal with our previous owners - and I would say that the chaos they were causing behind the scenes when he arrived MUST have had a detrimental effect to all those around. It is no coincidence that now a new broom is sweeping through so the results and the on field performances are improving. Give him more time and watch what he does in January. If we are still falling away come February fell free to find this post and slag me off.

When, and against who? Don't say West Ham or Blackburn, please, and I think Chelsea's form is showing of late. I'll give it until the next away game for everyone to be brought back down to earth....again.

Jesus Emerald what you are saying there is lets forget about anything good the team do and only focus on the bad. Have we been terrible away from home? You bet your a*s we have but out home form has picked up in the last few matches and that is a start. Getting the Anfield performances raised was the top priority after our horrific start to the season so we've done that now the next step is getting our form sorted on the road.

I know you're gonna state that his record suggests he's not going to be able to do that but hes at Liverpool now, has a better calibre of player and slowly seems to be coming to terms with what is expected of him. We may lose this weekend, in fairness we could have any manager in the world at the helm and if Spurs click at the Lane we could still come away with a hiding. Lets see what kind of performance we can deliver and hopefully we can take a few positives from it going into a very winnable run of games in December

I see you're one of the 5% that wants Hodgson to stay.

emerald, 3rd best home record in the premiership, 2nd best in last 6 games in the premiership... we're not doing that bad, maybe the 5% make sense

They really don't make any sense.  And it doesn't matter if you've the best home record in the league thus far, nevermind 3rd if you haven't a clue how to win away from home, now does it? well not restarting a war but Roy could cure the flu and people would moan they still might get a cold.

hes doing ok.. hes making mistakes, but as the seasons going on we are getting better results and thats what we have to look at. Whilst other teams are fading away we need to take advantage.

How the feck is he doing ok??? One win against an appalling hammers side and suddenly Woy is alright, give me strength, is this really our level as a club now?

Neil do you understand the phrase "constructive criticism?" Try using it instead of being a tool

You know what - in recent games there have been signs of improvement and steps forward - unfortuantly we have had equal enough signs of steps backwards and currently they are evening themsleves out hence the current position is about right for us .

I think to really keep moving we just need to change the away mentality - stop the players sitting so deep , push them up 5 to ten yards and put pressure on the home team . We let home teams control the game no matter who we are playing and we need to change that attitude .

agree 99%

(we are not going back as much as forwards recently.. we have turned a corner, but you are correctamundo on the away approach needed)

Ok ill expand a little - i was talking more in terms of the performance -we do well against chelsea then throw it away against wigan and stoke then get a result against west ham - the next step is crucial and a real turning point in the season .

Calling someone a manc because they have a different view to someone else isnt constructive - it just adds fuel to the fire .

I actually phrased my post wrong and couldnt edit it because of this silly forum glitch. I meant to say "acting like a tool" rather than that Neil was actually a tool - by typing something like "your a manc on our forum" which is nothing more than a statement designed to attack EmeraldR and cause an angry response.

Lee want to explain how its constructive? Want to explain why Im a plank while your at it?
