Roy doesn't seem to like Pacheco at all and i have no idea why!  I hate seeing Spearing, Ecclestone etc getting lots of chances but Pacheco getting alienated for one bad game.  He is still doing really well in the reserves.  will be sad when he leaves.

Didier Deschamps would be a good shout to replace Roy should things not work out for the current boss! If we are going try and tap into the best of the French league then a Commolli/Deschamps double act may allow that to happen.

If that happens I'll eat my ball sack.

At least it wont take long to 'tap' into the best the French have to offer, then once we've realised there's nothing but sulking wingeing ponces over there they'll hopefully come back and have a re-think.

French players at Liverpool? not again please!

no, we'd end up with over hyped tatt, because the big name french players are too exspensive.

Imagine Babel was French...you get the picture.

ROY HODGSON has warned his Liverpool players they must be at their best to take anything from White Hart Lane on Sunday.

The Anfield outfit face an in-form Tottenham who reached the last 16 of the Champions League with a 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Wednesday night.

That followed a remarkable fightback from 2-0 down to win at Arsenal last weekend and Hodgson is wary of Harry Redknapp’s side.

“Wins are hard to come by against the top teams and we have got to admit that Tottenham are no longer the Tottenham of old,” Hodgson said.

“They are a top team and have recently beaten the European champions in the Champions League.

“It is an expensively assembled team and we are not playing against mugs any more.”

Liverpool bounced back from their miserable defeat at Stoke with a 3-0 win over bottom club West Ham last Saturday and Hodgson is looking for a repeat display from his side.

Having taken 13 points out of the last 18 on offer, only Manchester United boast a better record over the past six Premier League games.

“We’ve had a very good run now and one defeat in eight (in all competitions) is a good run at any stage of the season,” Hodgson said.

“We have to be happy with that but we are not stupid. We know that if you go to Tottenham it could be two defeats in nine but if we play like we did against West Ham we can make sure Tottenham don’t have a cake-walk.”

Sunday’s game will see Reds director of football strategy Damien Comolli return to the club where he spent three years as director of football.

Skipper Steven Gerrard (hamstring), Daniel Agger (calf) and Jay Spearing (ankle) are ruled out but Joe Cole could return after a hamstring injury.

Fabio Aurelio has forced his way into Hodgson’s thoughts for the trip to the capital after his lively cameo against West Ham.

The versatile Brazilian left-back made an impressive comeback from an Achilles iniury on the left wing and the manager believes he will have a key role to play for the rest of the season.

“Fabio’s had to work very hard because he's been dogged by bad luck for the last couple of years,” he said.

“It was nice to see him back on the field again and he played with great confidence.

“He can definitely play as a left midfielder.

“When we re-signed him we were thinking we needed two good left-backs at the club and that he'd be competing for one of those places in the team, but I saw him do very well in Trabzonspor when he moved up into midfield, and he tells me that when he was in Valencia he played in midfield very often.

“It's definitely an option. If he can stay fit then it could be a really good boost to our team.”

Im not so happy with this interview...he makes us sound so inferior to Spurs.  Like we're going there to try and keep the score down or something...

Liverpool Echo  26 /11/10

ROY HODGSON believes Fernando Torres and David Ngog hold the key to Liverpool’s hopes of victory at in-form Tottenham on Sunday.

The Anfield boss was impressed with his strikers in the 3-0 win over West Ham last weekend and is considering retaining French rookie Ngog to play alongside Torres in the capital.

Hodgson is wary of Spurs who followed up their stunning fightback at Arsenal with a 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen in the Champions League in midweek.

But the manager insists if the Reds match the standards set in the first half against the Hammers they will have nothing to fear.

“We’ve had a very good run now and one defeat in eight is a good run at any stage of the season,” Hodgson said.

“We have to be happy with that but we are not stupid. We know that if you go to Tottenham it could be two defeats in nine but if we play like we did against West Ham we can make sure Tottenham don’t have a cake-walk.

“And if we can keep Fernando Torres and David Ngog firing we may spring a surprise.

“Wins are hard to come by against the top teams and we have got to admit that Tottenham are no longer the Tottenham of old.

“They are a top team and have recently beaten the European champions in the Champions League. It is an expensively assembled team and we are not playing against mugs anymore.”

The Reds have won just twice away in the league in 2010 with their only victories coming at Bolton and Burnley.

However, Hodgson insists mental strength isn’t a concern away from the comforts of Anfield.
The away form has been bad for a long time,” he added.

“I’m afraid in this league away victories are hard to come by.

“I believe if we continue to play the way we did against West Ham we may get one or two but it is the level of performance which counts.

“We’ve not been a lucky team so far, whatever we’ve got we’ve had to battle for.

“I don’t think mentality comes into it. Against Stoke we had done well against them until they scored the goal.

“Then we took the game to them and conceded a second and everyone thinks the team played badly and were battered.

“Results determine everything and people look at the results and then judge the performance.

“I have to judge the performance sometimes when we win and say ‘that was not very good and we could do better’ and sometimes when we lose I have to look at it and say it was a bad result but not as bad as all that.”

Steven Gerrard and Torres have been included on the 55-man shortlist for the FIFA/FIFPro World XI 2010.

The results will be announced at the FIFA Ballon d'Or gala in Zurich on January 10.

Meanwhile, talented Reds youngster Suso has revealed he turned down offers from Barcelona and Real Madrid before moving to Anfield. The 17-year-old said: “I had good offers from them but I have always liked the Premier League more than La Liga,” he said. “I feel very happy and I want to be here a lot of years.”

Just a few questions for the current manager ......why are away victories hard to come by ?
in the last 6 years  when have Spurs away been anything less than a difficult fixture, when have they ever  been mugs  ?
When you say we can make sure Spurs don't have a cakewalk ....are we talking damage limitation before we even take to the pitch ?
and finally do you really expect the fans to accept the following statement "I don’t think mentality comes into it. Against Stoke we had done well against them until they scored the goal,“Then we took the game to them and conceded a second and everyone thinks the team played badly and were battered.   :(

In re to your first question ^^ the fact we've only won twice away to Bolton and Burnley in the 2010 calender year is more than enough evidence to suggest we have found it hard to win away from home.

Intelligent post!  Can you not understand he is trying to take the pressure off us.

Frankly, we are not a top team..  We where 7th last year.  Do you think that is the position a top team ends up.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Have to admit, I like the idea of him playing down our chances [personally].

But at times unfortunately it looks as though his team go out there litterally believing what he has said.  :(

Which in turn doesn't really look as though he's 'playing our chances down', more likely that he actually means it.  :(  :(

Ola Mr Benitez, you're right about one thing we're not a 'top team' and haven't been for the last 18 months or so.  :(
