ROY HODGSON - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I just don't like that interview at all.  I can understand a bit of downplaying our chances...but this sounds like complete damage limitation.  It sounds as if we're half expecting them to put 4 or 5 past us and even if we play well we only have a chance of springing a surprise.

I just don't like it at all.  I don't see how that will lift the players.

It does come across as very defeatist, I wouldnt personally mind it if he hadnt appraoched matches in this manner previously this season with disasterous results. C'mon Roy lad talk us up for a change ffs. They may be a good team with good players but we have good players too and stranger things have happened than us going to White Hart Lane and coming back with 3 points.

“And if we can keep Fernando Torres and David Ngog firing we may spring a surprise.

“Wins are hard to come by against the top teams and we have got to admit that Tottenham are no longer the Tottenham of old.

“They are a top team and have recently beaten the European champions in the Champions League. It is an expensively assembled team and we are not playing against mugs anymore.”

“I’m afraid in this league away victories are hard to come by.

“I believe if we continue to play the way we did against West Ham we may get one or two but it is the level of performance which counts.

“We’ve not been a lucky team so far, whatever we’ve got we’ve had to battle for.

“I don’t think mentality comes into it. Against Stoke we had done well against them until they scored the goal.

“Then we took the game to them and conceded a second and everyone thinks the team played badly and were battered.

“Results determine everything and people look at the results and then judge the performance.

“I have to judge the performance sometimes when we win and say ‘that was not very good and we could do better’ and sometimes when we lose I have to look at it and say it was a bad result but not as bad as all that.”

We are a top team ,you stupid auld f,ucker !!!

Why not say we are going to tottenham for the three points ,nothing less, no cake walk for spurs my a.rse . We are Liverpool fc for f.ucks sake .

If we keep Torres and n,gog fit we may spring a suprise . It will be no suprise to spurs that we will be going there sh1tting ourselves you senile old tw,at.

Once again we are a top team , we certainly aren't the LFC of old under your management .

I remember when we used to beat the European champions ,and no it's them that are playing the mugs now , us thanks to you you defeatist c.unt .

Away victories are 3points like home victories , why not look at it that way instead of keeping our expectations low so we expect and accept away defeats you sorry excuse for a manager .

We may get one or two away wins , are you for f,uckin real , go draw your pwension and let someone who knows what they are doing take charge .

Like many know, I have all been for giving Roy a chance. But, i gotta say that his interviews and his ideas are well out of line.

It will be no surprise at all if we beat spurs roy. They lost at Bolton 4-2 two weeks ago you dick.

I'm gonna have to change my outlook on him, a good football man? Yes! but, ruthless enough to mange this club? NO!

A new managment team is going to be needed to create a new future for this club.

I'm all for Coyle with  Commolli as director and kenny as a guidance.

Im fuming with Roy's interview.

Sorry people, but WE ARE A TOP TEAM! Our form is off just now, but we are always a top team. WE ARE LIVERPOOL and that still holds some ground. Regardless of what you might think.

Teams do never play us and think 3 points in the bag. So, Roy isnt playing our chances down at all, he's being defeatest, so if we lose he can say that it was expected. Sorry Roy, you are wrong. We expect to win every game. Even last season with Rafa's horrible decisions and the teams play, at least he expected a win from us.

What do you think he is telling the team?  Do you think he is saying "watch out lads we are going to get played off the park here" or do you think he might be telling them that we can do them...?

This is all games played in the glaring lights of the media.  I admit its not what I really like, but the over reaction on this forum is amazing. Lets just see what happens on Sunday.

People who are old enough will remember how Bob Paisley would always talk up the opposition and even after we had given a team a good thrashing he would say how unlucky they were.  Now Roy doesnt do it in as much style as Bob (nobody could) but it worked.

As Pepe has been saying in the press today, get off Roys back and give him your support.. its kind of our job, as supporters!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

The question was.... Why are we finding away victories hard to come by (Roys words not mine )....

He's not Paisley though is here fella ...not by any wildest stretch of the imagination is he in any respect similar .... neither should his name be  used in the same sentence with such a humble gentleman ,and without doubt the most successful manager in Liverpool's glorious history  ............. seriously if you want your posts to have a grain of credibility ,stop using absolute legends to compare with the current incumbent ....we will support the team Lad but as for Hodgson he's on his own ....

I actually phrased my post wrong and couldnt edit it because of this silly forum glitch. I meant to say "acting like a tool" rather than that Neil was actually a tool - by typing something like "your a manc on our forum" which is nothing more than a statement designed to attack EmeraldR and cause an angry response.

Lee want to explain how its constructive? Want to explain why Im a plank while your at it?

are you his dad like? its how the guy rolls, he actually comes across as sounding like a manc. Incidentally you appear to have highlighted your own diificiencies here, I never said he was a manc(tool) merely he sounded like one, then again if it walks like a manc amd talks like a manc chances are...

Pretty dissapointed with that interview to say the least . Talk about negative and dumbing down expectations . I hope to god he's different in the dressing room because infront of the press he depresses the feck out of me .

Roy in the dressing room " Come on lads lets smash these cockney c.unts everywhere , there a load of sh!te these"
What are the chances do you think ?

Neil why would a manc be angry and frustrated that liverpool are doing badly? He sounds the complete f*cking opposite of a ManU supporter in that respect You make no sense, all it was was a b*tchy pot shot you took at the fella because he disagrees with you. My point is, and I feel like this has being hammered home enough already, is that your not respecting the guys opinion but instead of trying to approach it constructively and trying to keep it to football talk you resort to name calling and goading in such a way that they only way Emerald Red could be expected to reply to the comment is in the same way, veering off football and into personal insults and NEWSFLASH. This is why poeple are leaving the forum in droves

I don't mind Roy playing the underdog card.  He could say that Spurs will be slight favourites with the home advantage and that wouldn't be so bad.

Its when he makes out that we need to play to our best to avoid a total hammering that he loses me.
