Saying we must win the next 3 games is not undermining the manager.  Its just stating what we really need to do to compete.

Saying the manager must finish in the top 7... thats a no brainer.  Liverpool should never finish below 7th and keep the manager.  The current environment is a lot better to work in than just a few weeks ago.  (for players + manager).

We all know that we really need to compete. But saying we "must win the next 3 games" is pointless. What if we dont? Can we not compete if we win one and draw two? Or win two and draw one? All it does is make some people believe that we have to win all three or we cant compete, which simply isnt true. This then adds pressure and get people riled if it doesnt happen. Of course nine points would be better than five or seven but lets not get ahead of ourselves (which many have rightly said) and put too much expectations on the manager and the players. One game at a time is the well known mantra...

Of course it adds to the pressure but thats what being a big club is all about.  The higher you are competing up the table, the less room there is for error and the more pressure there is to win games.

Think what they are saying is the pressure is already there without people making it worse.

By the way these 3 games that we must win yielded about 4 points last season.

We lost 1-0 at Wigan.
drew 1-1 at stoke
and won 3-2 (i think) at west ham

But if Roy doesnt win all 3 he will get the usual criticism  :no

yeah i guess there are a few that will put the boot into Roy if we don't win em all. Thats their own perogative.

I think id be happy enough with 7 depending on the circumstances of the games.  Obviously id prefer 9 though.

That's fair enough, we would all prefer 9 but realistically the two away games are a bit tricky.
I would be happy with a point at Stoke but would be hopeful of a win at Wigan and at home to West Ham.

The bad results and shocking performances up to the last few games has a lot to do with that. Had we not got something like 8 points out of 24, the pressure wouldn't be there but the patience would. I think that until the Blackburn game a lot of the criticism was fair.

So do i mate.

Definitely, no excuses for dropping points against Sunderland and Blackpool.

Well Roy has at least given us some hope or even a better level for discussion with the last two games.  I dont think he is a long term answer but well done Roy and I hope it carries on.

Being near 4th by Januray will give the team belief and something to fight for and I pray we do it or even better.

We still have basically played on the counter attack these last three games, we've just done a much better job particularly in defense, while Torres has hit some form. What I noticed against Chelsea was that our midfield kept their shape very well, while the back four worked to keep in closer contact with the midfield. With the players looking more up for it, that resulted in a far tighter defensive unit than we have seen in games against the likes of Sunderland and Blackpool. It was a performance most like Arsenal earlier in the season - except we scored a second and this time, with a bit of luck, managed to avoid conceding. I fancied us to get the win yesterday, partly because we've come into some form in the league, partly because Chelsea were without Drogba and Essien, but also because of the way we came back against Napoli midweek. Perhaps it would have been different if the opponent hadn't been Chelsea, but I certainly felt like I couldn't wait for the Chelsea game after that Gerrard hat-trick.

The challenge is to keep it going against Wigan and that's by no means a given. It's midweek, it's a late kick-off, it'll be freezing cold and it is of course in Wigan :( . They're in desperate need of a result too and they've shown in the past - beating Chelsea, Arsenal and ourselves last season - that they're capable of getting one when they need it. At any rate, we certainly shouldn't lose that game but with our form having picked up in a big way recently it would feel like a big opportunity missed if we weren't to win there. Then, we go to Stoke - where a point wouldn't necessarily be a bad result - and after that play West Ham at home, who we should definitely beat. It feels like such a long time since we've won six on the bounce you just can't see it happening, but wouldn't it be fecking amazing if we did. Seven points would be a good effort, though.

Blackburn beat Wigan so there is no excuse not to get 3 points from that. Anything less than 9 points from the next 3 games and the pressure will be back on in full force.

John Henry has more or less said that CL qualification at the end of the season is the requirement NESV would not have invested 300 million pounds to just secure premiership survival.

They have ambitions, so do we and our players must turn up this season if we are to achieve our ambitions.

People are talking like they are shocked we beat Chelsea but we expect to beat them we are liverpool F.C. they should fear us not the other way around, and there is no reason what so ever we cannot get 9 points from the next 3 games our team is full of International players and they must perform from here on in, or find themselves looking for a new club in january !!!

Our club and us expect to challenge for the title and no way will I start lowering my expectations just because other people are.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

4th absolutely has to be the minimum for him to keep his job. He simply cannot afford any more slip ups. I get the feeling though 4th is a task too far for him. Time will tell.
