Actually, I had no idea the Grok was crocked, so I assumed it was an actual selection decision.  With the injuries factored in, it of course looks a little more like the proverbial happy accident.  That said, I think Roy set us up well today and deserves credit.  Oh, and since Kelly played a blinder he'll definitely have a selection decision to make in future matches.  :buttrock

Oh thats all we need on this forum MH another bloody group :D (non aligned laconic liverpool lurker)

Brilliant to see some self belief and confidence in the team and good to see Boss get some credit.

Now just to build on it and get us back where we belong

Good!

Hopefully the presure from Kelly can get Johnson to raise his game.
If not he`s proved he`s up to the job.

Like i said Bob it was a great injury headache in the end and Kelly most certainly showed ( just like he has before) that he is more than capable of being a regular prem starter

In relation to Roy, I have started preparing a big bowl of humble pie.
We should win the next 3 games. (or at least get 7 points).

At that point, ill start eating the humble pie :D

"Churlish" ?

Who said we won by accident ?

Seems clear to me that the only "accident" mentioned was the starting 11.

To say:
"Hodgson had no choice but to play Kelly with the Greek and Johnson both being unable to play - injuries played out well for us today so more fortunate as opposed to genuis selection" is to take credit from the manager for a well fought, hard earned win. Is the suggestion that if Johnson and the greek would have been available and picked we would have lost? I doubt it. It is a non-argument because every manager picks the team from those available.
Both yourself and Bob have used the phrase "happy accident". If thats the case then lets hope we have many more of these before the end of the season.

:)

We're winning now become of the manager or because of the players?

To me, the players yesterday were transformed - commitment, energy and desire to take the game to Chelsea.

I want Roy to be a success but lets differentiate between what are managerial decisions and graft on the field.

no selection headache for me though, just drop Johnson,
Kelly offers less in attack but a whole lot more in defence.

let Johnson develope a "mysterous illness" as per the "ankle injury" suffered by sherk, then ship him off to chelsh1t for 20m.

i dont think the players just decided the press a button and "transformed", buddy.

a leader inspired them, be it Gerrard, Hodgson or even Henry.
but lets give Hodgson the benefit of a doubt and credit him with this huge victory.

Fair enough, mate.  But one thing's clear, we're not sitting off teams near as much as we were during our time in and around the relegation zone.  We're pressing the ball, playing pass and move and creating chances.  No shock, then, that we're getting results.  Is it all down to the manager?  Of course not, just like it was never exclusively down to the manager when we were playing dire, turgid football.  But, just as the manager has to shoulder much of the blame for bad form he should get a lot of praise for good form.  It's only fair.

Maybe the manager has taken a step back and said 'lets how you lads want to do it'.

I mean that was traditional Liverpool football yeasterday as under Rafa or Ged, Roy didnt 'create' it from some cunning plan.

Spot on Reg.

Although Meireles on the right still worries me. The rest seemed ok in terms of playing in familiar positions.

Agreed
Its not just one or the other, its both.
At last he seems to be getting a positive response from the players and they are finally playing with passion and pride.
Let the good times roll
