We could have changed all the players instead I suppose and embarked on a 10 year rebuilding programme, but changing the manager was easier and made more sense. It remains to be seen whether or not we chose the right bloke to replace him.
It looks to me though like we didn't choose the right guy. My guess is that Roy will do better than Benitez, but not by far enough to make him the correct choice. Quite what those that say Roy is a sh!t manager will say if he ends up winning our first trophy for five seasons or finishing higher than Rafa did most recently I'm fecked if I know. It'll be fun watching it though.

could Rafa have done as well with Fulham?
Fulham had a great season mate...

I think we can all plainly see that there is never going to be any substantial agreement between those who think Rafa's time was up and those that think it wasn't. I think all sides have had their say on the matter, explained their respective views at length and we've reached the "agree to disagree" phase of the proceedings. I'm also pretty sure this isn't the Rafa thread and that there have been some suggestions of late that deviations from the thread topic are discouraged. So, for the love of all that is holy, can everyone just stand down now?

bigmick wrote:It says it all that in the thread about our current manager, half of the people at least only want to talk about the previous one. They say "what he needs to do is to win football matches" and he is doing. Our last three results have been very positive. They say about the press conferences, and he kind of offered an olive branch to the previous manager which was nice. We play Chelsea at the weekend, and if by hook or by crook we can win that, we are going to be right on the edge of where we want to be. Not playing great, bt getting there. We then have a run of very nice looking fixtures.
he has adapted his style a tad, we are playing better, things are looking up. We're on the "Roy Hodgson" thread, and what do people want to talk about? Says it all really.

Quite happy to agree to disagree Bob - can i also ask (if its ok ) that people stop suggesting that fans will be unhappy if we win a trophy or if we beat Chelsea etc as i find it quite insulting and im sure a number of people do when someone suggests such a thing .
Thanks

Yes, it's insulting--just as it was last year when it was directed at the Rafa critics. However, two wrongs don't make a right and such stirring is strongly discouraged.
With that agreed, maybe we could now have a break from the relentless interrogations? Ta.
